Introduction/Notes --- This list is a work in progress...
I have seen dozens of threads (and posted a few myself) asking for certain types of missions, sometimes repeatedly. I have also seen at least a few threads suggesting a way to sort out missions based on type/keywords, etc. So, I figured I'd make a list of the most often requested types. I do not intend this to be an all inclusive comprehensive list of all FMs - just a list of the FMs that seem to be often requested types.

Anyone wishing to contribute category ideas, or FMs that fit a particular category, please feel free to do so as it will help speed along the process. Also any corrections, or pointing out of any errors on my part in this listing are more than welcome. I will obviously not have had the time to play every single one of these myself. If responding with a suggestion, please read the current list so as to avoid repeated suggestion of the same FMs (unless you are suggesting it as a must play, or a different category). Also, don't expect this list to be constantly up to date, or comprehensive without suggestions and input from the rest of you. Without that, it's being updated on an "as I play them" basis. (If any link goes down, please reply telling me so, and I will try to find a new one).

As a note, the way I have these listed is:

And a link to the largest thread on the FM I could find containing tips, hints, spoilers, and disccusion.

This is to provide everything you need to play the game in one location so you don't have to search for, or post new threads for any of the listed FMs.

If an entry is unlinked, and does not follow this format, I have not gotten to adding links for it yet. If the entry does follow this format, and has unlinked portions of it, it means I have been unable to find any links for that particular part of the entry.

(Side note on mission threads:Often, people complain "I don't have time to read 9+ pages of thread to find the answer I want". A sometimes overlooked, yet very useful ability in these forums when it comes to finding what you want to know is located at the top right of every thread. "Search this Thread". Many people search the forums, which can give you far too many hits, yes. However, "Search this Thread" searches only within the thread you are looking at, and can help you narrow down what you want to know. As an example, say you are playing an FM where you start with no equipment, and you want to know where the replacement for the Blackjack is. Use "Search this Thread", and type in "blackjack" and it will give you a list of the responses in the thread that mention the word "blackjack" which 9 times out of 10 will be about finding the replacement. Same goes for "loot", "basement key", "candlemaker", "secrets", or anything else you are looking for.)

I have a small problem concerning Cauchemars/Nightmares? I notice that there are two separate threads for FMs called Nightmares.

One appears to be a small halloween mission from what I can glean from the thread, and the other seems to be a multi-mission FM pack. Are they the same thing? Is the multi-mission one an expansion on the single one? I was going to link the listings to the various threads about them, and I don't know which thread to point to...

Nightmares/Cauchemars is a 5-FM pack, with each FM having been made by a different author in the French Thief community. Other missions that might be confused with this are "Garett's Nightmare" and "A Living Nightmare".

Brief update, both to bring this back to page one, and to show the progress I am getting to with this. I have only done horror FMs so far, and I am sure the list is far from complete, but I wanted to give an idea of what I am trying to do. I will also add Author, and rating eventually.

I could really use FM suggestions if anyone has any, as well as pointing out any errors I have made, and I would love it if someone knows of any screenshots available for the ones I couldn't find any for.

(Stickyable yet? If just for the horror section alone?)

Just for info, GarrettLoader version 1.41 will have a kind of Keywords system in it that will classify FMs similar to the way they have been done here. These classifications can then be uploaded to GLs server and will be integrated into the scores system...it won't have screenshots though .
The current keyword breakdown is:

Enemy-Mechanist
Enemy-Thieves
Enemy-Keepers
Enemy-Mages
Enemy-Pagans
Enemy-Undead

Why there isn't Calendra's Legacy amongst "Most often recommended" and/or "Most absorbing/Keep Busy FMs" ?
Even more, the list doesn't include the FM pack at all (apart form CL#3 in the Keeper Missions). One of the greatest missions ever and a major milestone - CC also isn't included.

I wish TTLG Fan Mission forum would create an annual "20 Favorite Fan Missions" list compiled from players' 20 top missions choices. Had I only known years ago when starting to play the hundreds of fan missions ahead, I would be sitting here today with snippets of many different wonderful missions running through my head, wanting to replay them but not having a clue what the titles are. At my age, replaying ALL fan missions may be a challenge to complete!!!
