Guide to Custom Resources for dromEd

Well I know quake 3's source code was released to the public, but that doesn't mean that the quake 3 assets are usable for non-commercial projects. I guess the way to know is to read the license agreement from Id Software. In any case, I doubt it's "legal." Just look at Doom 3 as an example: A group of modders for the old Doom II game wanted to port textures from Doom 3 over to gzdoom, a source port for Doom II. They recently posted on their website that it was not allowed to take those textures (from a full version of doom 3) and put them into gzdoom. However, they may be allowed to use textures that were from the doom 3 demo, as the doom 3 demo was freeware. Not really sure though, I'm no expert on copyright or anything.

I wanted to add this to Custom Resources, as I created a custom screen which will allow 25 objectives to appear on a loaded saved game, and 23 on the objective loading screen. In order to achieve this, I used only one line in goal.str for each objective, and did not overlap. Some of the files included are the same that are found in Thief2\Res\Intrface, and are here for convenience.
A custom made objctivr.pcx and it's .bin as well as a modified Loadingr.pcx and it's .bin are in the zip. Also Custom made objctiv.pcx (gold framed) and also a blank one as well. Directions are in the readme.txt

Just a note: After I have released "Dark is the Lair", I will offer a 2-page objective screen, so that the 31 LGS stated can be viewed. I will try to configure it, so that page two comes up after 16 objectives have been completed. The user then just clicks on a < back button to review the first screen.

Guard7, Guard8, and Th3 (Thief 3) and Schemas. Download a copy of "The Deadly Triangle" These were converted from ,ogg format to .wav format from T3. 781 files IIRC. Included in Guard7 and Guard8 are Drunk lines to give alittle more variety.

A word of advice regarding custom materials:
It requires skill to create an original mission that still breaths the spirit of Thief. A large mix of all kinds of custom objects and textures from various authors don't make your Fan Mission per se better. The end result often looks messy, more like a mix of styles then having an own identity, and may lack the charm of Looking Glass' original missions.
The T1/2 stock resources are perfectly suited most of time and should be your first focus (unless you want a level not situated in the thief universe).
When stock resources don't provide what you're looking for, or don't fit for what you're planning to create, you can always turn to custom resources. But always use them wisely and go for quality (read: suitability) above quantity.

I'm revamping my site with wordpress and many of the files are being moved around. Should be a few days until it's done, if you have a links to a file it may not work when

I think that's probably due to the fact that these days, most browsers assume the subdomain is "www" when it's not explicitly entered. http://wearytaffer.com/ works for my site too although I did nothing explicitly to make it work.

i also added a private testing phpbb page for myself. so testers will be able to do it on my own page, i won't have to rely on an outside testing forum. i've had that ability for years and never did it. seems when things changed to not include the www that my frontpage extensions were messed up. i can't manage my files with frontpage service, i'm using ftp again. on topic, i recently built a bunch of new custom objects that the site is hosting.
