I can only think of Ominous Bequest although it takes place in the night.
I cannot recall the name of it, Ive been searching thief mission sites, and I know it was a very highly rated mission too...
Heres what I remember about it:
It was a complete mansion, approached from the outside, fully accessible from outside, basement, main floor, upstairs floors, even attic areas. There might have even been deeper underground secretive areas. Also i believe (not 100% sure), the sky outside was sunset, aka it wasnt a typical night time mission. It was still kind of daylight outside. That is how i remember it, at least how my mind wants to remember its awesomeness! Also this is just a *maybe*, but I think outside the main front entrance doors there was a crack under the terrace/porch which led down under/into the mansion. But I could be confusing that part with a number of similar large mansion missions I have played over the years. however this one Im thinking of was by far the most amazing looking and top-to-bottom full access mansion mission I ever played.
I can only think of Ominous Bequest although it takes place in the night.
Sounds like: BLACKMAIL in the TMA missions. Main gate with houses across the street. Then when you get into the grounds there is a porch with guards and a crack under the porch lets you into the basement.
You can explore the outside and have access to a side area that goes into a foyer with a fireplace and a pool, and there is a chapel off to one side (left of the main entrance from the porch).
But it's not an FM. As for FM's the ones that come to mind are The Book Of Prophecies (a multi mission collection), and The Seventh Crystal.
Prophecies begins with a mansion on the seacoast with a large outside area, and access, to explore. It has multi-floor access, a underground area that is extensive.
Seventh is mostly inside, but there is some outside access. You enter through a basement access tunnel and then have three floors to explore and a secret underground area.
Its probably 7th crystal, because I did play that in the past. Also Ominous Bequest I played and thats a completely different mansion altogether. Ill download 7th crystal again and check it out with the level skip code ;p
I looked at 7th crystal screenshots and I dont think this is it, i mean the screenshots didnt even show any outdoor large building with a daylight theme.
I do remember another small detail of the map now, it had a crawlspace between 2 of the floors which you could see into from a small peep hole, and there is a dead body in there, also a red light making everything in that crawlspace bright red, that detail struck me as it was very nicely done. Does this ring any bells for anyone now?
EDIT:
Fuod (below) sounds correct....Ominous Bequest.

The red light and body definately sounds like Ominous Bequest, and that mission does take place in what appears to be just after sunset-ish (depending on your gamma settings).
It could be ominous bequest but I just loaded up ominous bequest gold and took a run around the mansion and it doesnt seem to be the one in my memory. the whole outside is way different from the one im recalling :/
damn this is going to bother my mind for a long time. basically i started getting thief FMs about 3 years ago and started getting the ones with high ratings (dont recall which FM sites i used to browse). I remember a mission with a small chapel and a really nice sunset sky. that was one of the first FMs i played and it really impressed me visually even though it was kind of a small mission. Next i played this large mansion mission and *maybe* im confusing the sky from the 1st mission i played with this mansion one.
Maybe people can just list any missions with large 3 floor mansions (basement, main level, 2nd floor, maybe even 3rd floor/attic), with an outside area you can venture around, taking place at any time of day or night. i will get any of these kinds of missions mentioned and see if i find the right one.
Clearing, no thats not it, but that mission looks amazing from the screenshots, downloading
Slyfoxx, I just checked out the screenshots for all of Christine's missions, and yes one of them did have a large house with a sunset sky, but its not the one, very different style of mansion here than the one im looking for which was a larger 3 floor building.

A Pirate's Downfall
The Art of Thievery
Embracing the Enemy
Freedom for Nepumuk
Heist Society
The Den
Lord Gibson's Estate
Lord James' Retreat
Mad as a Hatter
Mission X
Mysterious Invitation
Rowena's Curse
Shining Standards
Tales from the Cleft: Vandal
The Sisterhood of Azura
Timoteus
Transitions in Chaos
Wicked Relics
Do you remember any special weapons or conversations or anything else of that nature?
Lol, have fun with "So Long Hammers". I'm a huge fan of ROFB's FMs, but I have to say I will never play that one again. Give it a whirl, but towards the end prepare for severe aggravation.
A few words on it:Haunts, apparation, locked room, no way to avoid a fight, no way out, fire arrows seriously f$&% with the gem objective, afterwards jump the lava pit of doom. I could go on but you will see for yourself. Do give it a try, it's worth it, but consider yourself forewarned.
As for the mansion mission, I think you are recalling several at once and mixing them up. The red light passages between floors with the skeleton is most definitely Ominous bequest.
Speaking of mansions and ROFB, I'd be remiss in not mentioning Transitions in Chaos.
Btw, did you try looking in my sticky at the mansions section?

The crack in the foundation to the left of the porch is a dead giveaway. It has to be the "Blackmail" level in the original game.
Hopefully we're not dealing with a Frankenstein's monster memory of spliced parts from different missions.
Blackmail:
A secret entrance through a crack under the porch.
A body below in a red-lit room and a view in there through a crawlspace.
Three stories, plus an attic, and a basement.
Secret underground areas.
A chapel.
Sky looks closer to twilight, with only dark blue straight up.

I was going through contest missions and I found that "keyhunt" was the mission I recalled with the really nice sunset sky, I played it some time right before I played the mansion FM I seek. I was likely downloading maps from contest mission lists at the time so it might be a contest map.
Its not blackmail for sure, I just played thief 2 again recently and remember the map. The crack there under the porch looks different.
One user above might be right, I might have frankenstein memory, but Im recalling a different looking crack under a porch or foundation, slightly covered by bushes, and yes daylight was hitting it so it wasnt even that well hidden. This actually reminds me of another "daylight" mission where you enter an abandoned zombie infested asylum/hospital and I recall the walls and such being lit in a orange/red light as if from a sunset. If anyone recalls the name of that mission Id also like to check it out, and if it is not taking place at sunset or daytime, (and instead at night), then i will admit my mind is broken and I am recalling details incorrectly, but if it is indeed a kind of sunset looking mission, then I know I am right about the other one as well.

Well, that sounds like Ghost House/Haunted Hospital, off the top of my head, but it's definitely not daylight.
If there are other FMs about haunted asylums/hospitals, I'd love to know so I can play them as well.
Only other asylum/hospital type mission that comes immediately to mind is The Cradle from TDS, and that's an OM.

A distinct part I remember from that hospital/asylum map is a large elevated wall running a long lenght of the outside area of the map, and you can get on top of it, if you fall down either side below are zombies walking around the courtyard sections. There is also a gate at one point where you can see the building across the way, and your goal in that mission is to make it inside the building and eventually you do find your way across to there. its a very nice looking outdoor mission (mostly) with very good lighting and in general design, like a lot of thought went into it and its one of those missions which will "strike" you. Man i wish i had saved these missions long ago instead of thinking I would just be able to re-get them later on. Of course easier said than done. when you dont have a name to go on, its almost impossible.
P.S. the mission(s) revolved around a zombie outbreak that took place a while ago, and you find letters as you progress explaining how the outbreak started and how the hospital became abandoned.
Edit:
The hospital/asylum mission is mission 12 from T2X, i saw some screenshots from it but people play this game SO damn dark it blows my mind. What on my system looked like a sunset sky and reddish glow on textures when i see it in screenshots or videos (http://www.thiefmissions.com/info.cgi?m=T2XCommentary12) these guys have it on pitch dark gamma setting. So I guess it was just my system settings then. That means the mansion mission also could have been a night mission basically with the gamma turned up. Sorry guys. Im still trying to find which mansion mission it was though, and its definitely not Blackmail or Ominous Bequest. I just replayed those to check them out and nope. Totally different maps.

That's beginning to sound like cardia1's No Place For Ghosts.
And.......now, not so muchP.S. the mission(s) revolved around a zombie outbreak that took place a while ago, and you find letters as you progress explaining how the outbreak started and how the hospital became abandoned
Have you checked out a T1 FM called Hammer Asylum? Could be way off the mark there since it's been so long since I played it.
This is a puzzler![]()
orange/red light...
Ultima Ratio? (there's abandoned zombie area).
Guys, the asylum map is mission 12 "The Cure" from Thief 2X.
This Undead Reckoning does look kind of interesting from the screenshots, i will try it. And Ultima Ratio looks really amazing I am downloading it right now
The only puzzle left is to find the large mansion mission Im looking for in my 1st post.

Cold0ne.
I think the mission you refer to is called Shining Standards.
On one of the floors of the mansion there is a locked room. Inside of the locked room there is an unlit torch, which is a switch. If you flip the switch, it introduces you to a small maze-like corridor. There is a place in there where you peek into a small room with a dead body (at least I think I remember) and there's a very creepy female apparition moving in there, in slow motion, heading towards you.
I hope this helps, but I don't remember the outside having a daylight theme.
As for the rating, it is 9 on the Thief missions site.
Clearing, how do you get the links on that darkfate russian site to load all the way? it seems to stop loading for me at letter L, even using google translate, the page stops loading at letter L (firefox or IE same thing).
Well thanks for giving the direct link to the map which is down by the letter S, not sure how you got the FMs page to load fully for yourself.
Btw that mission is not it, because it has snow outside, the one im looking for definitely didnt have any weather effects, it was a clear day.
