MILO1985, please post contents of your CAM.CFG and Tafferpatcher\Tafferpatcher.ini files.

O.K. I removed taffer patcher and reinstalled the game with ddfix and widescreen mode,
try to run it in 5760 x 1080 which resulted in a no go, then I tried it in 1920 x 1080 and it crashed yet again.

    Here is ddfix.ini file:

    This should look like:

    gWidth=1920
    gHeight=1080

Also you should re-run widescreen patch every time you change the resolution, because any non-standard resolution needs to be hacked into thief2.exe

If it still doesn't work, try to rename thief2.exe to anything like thief2game.exe. Some video drivers include optimizations dependent on .exe name, and these optimizations sometimes make the game unplayable.

Well, I don't know what I did, but the game is working now, the resolution is only 1280 x 1024 though.
At least the colour is 32 bit, so I can turn up the gamma all the way to see in the dark without the game looking like crap.

I'm not feeding him, I'm beating him with a rake.

What is this I get flamed by 2 trolls for saying I run the game in 32 bit colour?

    Both reported.

Cut it out and get the thread back on topic, please.

Tafferpatcher is not working on wine if i select ddfix or multicore fix (didn't try widescreen also)...
The multicore fix doesn't do anything to affinity, and ddfix plain crashes the game.

If i manually install ddfix after tafferpacher applies the rest (it replaces the exe due to the thief 2 1.18 patch) it works.

The version i'm using that works is ddfix 1.5.5-complete, and used dotnet 2.0 (not 2.0sp2) to use the ddfix gui.

I would suggest it's time to update the ddfix, and use the multicorefix incoportated in ddfix regardless (make it not a option).

  11. #236
btw imagecfg doesn't work on wine either, but the new ddfix multicore fix does.

The problem is that I'm migrating to the new version of the compiler now which got screwed up most of string functions in the code. OK, I'll try to reinstall an old one and make a minor update of sort...

I just used Tafferpatcher to move T2 from my dying legacy game PC to my newer one, which has just about everything that could cause problems hardware-wise. After an hour of play there are no problems whatsoever.

  14. #239
Hello everyone, I had no problems installing tafferpatcher fully on my laptop, however, when I did a full install on my Vista desktop, it shows the game in the resolution i set, however it's not in fullscreen, it's in the top left corner of my monitor and everything else out of game view is black, with artifact-like things from my desktop popping in and making things very slow. Any ideas?

Sounds like the widescreen patch applied only partially.

  16. #241
Has anyone had any problems just downloading the patch? I tried to do just that and it took quite a while, but then at about 99% the download timed out and refused to complete.

  18. #243
    Ok, got it. Thanks!

Now. . how does one activate it? I downloaded it to my thief2 folder, but I can't seem to find it in there.

EDIT: Nope, nevermind. Found it and installed it and everything's working fine so far.

To quote Holly from Red Dwarf: I may be slow, but I get there in the end.

OK, as promised, a minor update.
    0.7.0 changelog:

DDFix updated to 1.5.5. The latest 1.5.7 version with its built-in widescreen support will require lots of code change, so I leave it for later major update.

Multi-core fix algorithm changed to the one which FlipTIB uses. If you use DDFix, it's redundant, so it's off in the default preset.

Interface change: The main component list now displays all previously installed components. No more focus-stealing list form. Just check to install, uncheck to uninstall. Bells, whistles and a big red button "Return to previous setup".

This version of Tafferpatcher is backward-compatible with the old one.
To update the ddfix installed by old version of TP:
Select the Thief2 folder. On components list, uncheck DDFix, click "Next". You'll be prompted if you want to uninstall ddfix, click "Yes". Click "Back", check the DDFix on again, then proceed with installation to the end.

    The link is the same:
    ftp://djriff.homeftp.net/patches/thi...ferPatcher.exe

The old version stored here, just in case:
    ftp://djriff.homeftp.net/patches/thi...cher_0_6_2.exe

I don't know what you did but Thief 2 now works with 1920 x 1080 res
I wish you could make it support triple wide resolution too though!

I use that resolution with the older version and it works fine.

Here is the problem that I am experiencing:

every time I run ddfix and widescreen the game works, but as soon as I quit the game, then re - enter it freezes my entire PC,
so I have to uninstall widescreen and ddfix, then run the bare game, then install ddfix, run the game, then install widescreen, run the game,
then enable EAX in order to play!

Obvoiusly having to do that every time is very annoying.
