            I've been trying to re-skin the hammer guards. I've got the proper 
            skin .gifs in the path they were in under mesh.crf in my Thief 
            directory, as specified by mods.doc. The thing is, when I go into 
            the game the Hammer's appearance is unchanged, regardless of what I 
            did to his .gif.

            Ah ha! I have solved it!
            It turns out that the directories from Mesh.crf have to be under a 
            directory (in your Thief dir) called "Mesh", as in 
            E:\Thief\Mesh\txt16. Also, Mesh must be capitalized.
