Hee hee hee...that looked soooo sweet - I'm purposely playing down my excitement here because I tend to be so vocal when pleased. Ok, I frame by framed the vid and here's what I came up with:
1) The dagger is between 9 and 12 inches long - including the handle. Double edged, small sized hilt. Bright shiny steel - don't draw this baby out in the open ladies and gentlemen. It's a high profile last resort close quarters combat weapon.
2) Garrett's holding it out in front of him with the pommel facing upwards and the blade downwards. Right hand is over the left. Good basic hold. Strong grip too.
3) Garrett appears to need to be at least a foot and a half from his target in order to deliver an effective blow. Quite realistic considering his weapon's restrictions.
4) As the strike takes place, Garrett's left hand leaves the blade while the right hand exits the screen on the right. He's winding up over his shoulder for the hit.
5) The strike is incredibly fast and hard - delivering a solid thrust into both the left clavicule and subclavian artery. A blow in this zone has two immediate effects: the first area is a system shocker - dropping anyone instantly and rendering that side of the upper body effectively useless. The second directly impacts the sanguin and nervous system. The subclavian artery carries blood to the forelimbs and the left ventral chest wall. With that length of blade and force, the tip of the dagger would also peirce the upper lobe of the left lung - further incapacitating the opponent. Due to shock, no sound save for a quick gasp would be heard, and possibly the crack of a broken bone. Very effective hit, except...
6) Though the video showed no such thing, a hit in that area with that force would unleash a massive pool of blood within less than thirty seconds - especially if the lung and subclavian artery was struck. Better have that water arrow handy to clean up the mess Garrett.![]()
Very cool vid. The shadows look outstanding, and so does the AI. Very cool shadow work and architecture too. I love the textures and arched doorways. I'm psyched. I'm VERY psyched!

I agree that the guard fell down a little too fast, and was in a stiff unrealistic position (at least that left leg.. Maybe it's a one-piece prosthetic
), and the dagger looked weird held like that, but overall the motions look tres cool!

Gameplay aside, the guard's fall is fast and hard because of the instant reactionary tensing up of the large upper/lower body muscles when struck in that zone.
