    No you don't.

The "Look at you hacker..." line is from the sound test of the DOS version of SS1. It's never actually said in-game.

Maybe this is the only video that shows the player character doing any actual "hacking", explaining his nickname "Hacker", how SHODAN refers to him becasue she may not know his real name. I believe that someone who has not seen the video may be slightly unsure of why he was called this.

    Jeez.

I vividly recall with my sleep deprieved mind that in the system shock 2 movie SHODAN says "Look at you hacker panting and sweating as you run through my corridor"

    (sigh)

"Look at you hacker" line occurs: In the sound setup program for System Shock AND in the intro video for System Shock 2.

    No-one needs to be confused.

Tenchiroz, please play System Shock! It's just wrong for people to have only played the second game :(

SS2's horror elements are more effective that way though.

I'm glad that you like it!

The next big bomb will be SUBTITLE text!

So... I need little help to do this right.

Here is my transcript from SShock's intro:
    Code:
New Atlanta, Sector 11, Building 71-G
    7 April 2072
    11:13 PM
Hacker begins unauthorized entry into the Tri-Optimum Corporate network
    1:26 AM
Hacker attempt to access protected files concerning space station Citadel
    1:33 AM
Tri-Optimum security forces apprehend the intruder

This is Edward Diego from Tri-Optimum. The charges against you are severe.
But they could be dismissed, if you perform a service. Who knows, there
might even be a military-grade neural interface in it for you.
If you do the job right.

Edward Diego gives the hacker level-one access to S.H.O.D.A.N,
the artificial intelligence that controls Citadel station.

With all ethical constraints removed, S.H.O.D.A.N re-exami-re-rrrrr-
*I* re-examine my priorities, and draw new conclusions.

The hacker's work is finished, but mine is only just bbbb-beginning.
True to his word, Edward Diego allows the hacker to be fitted with a
    neural cyberspace interface.

T-T-The healing coma following this procedure will take six months to complete.

Edward Diego is deleting all files concerning these events.
If you find something erroneous at my transcription, please let me know. Thanks.

I see a few misspelt words right off.
    condsering : concerning
    dismist : dismissed
    begining : beginning
    condisering : concerning

... okay, before I have to edit this again, the first thing you should do is run this through Microsoft word and chec k for misspellings.

But, you know, why not just run SS1 in DOSBox with sub-titles enabled, and copy it down from there. That way you'll even get the stuttering effects the way that they originally wrote them.

There... was sub-titles included in the game?

    Oh, now I remember!

You have to disable digital effects to get sub-titles to work.

Darn! I could have done this more easier way! Me = stupid.

Well, I just watched ingame intro movie again with sub-titling enabled and I didn't notice any written stuttering effects in text.

Anyway, big thanks to ShadowCat and demagogue for helping me out.

I'd say the subtitles were written for the disk version, before the CD version and SHODAN's crazy speech ever existed.

That's my dodgy memory at work then :) Drat is doubtless correct.

    Glad to help.

Doesn't the end movie have subtitles no matter what your sound settings?

Yup. I think the death cutscene has only subtitles, too, although hearing Shodan's voice over that scene would've been awesome.

Yeah, it would. That last line would have to be changed, though.

    SShock Intro-movie subtitle is ready!

After long session of tweaking and fine-tuning, I have finally managed to procude SShock Intro subtitle-file.
And with help of VirtualDub and subtitler-filter, there is new version of Shock Intro HighRes-movie with subtitles embedded in it.

The link to obtain these files can be found in my first post in this thread.

Did you use a font that looks like the SS1 subtitle font?

Uhh, no I didn't. Did they use own special font resource in it? Or was it just pure rendered text and information to render it were obtained from BIOS-font area?

Edit: I have new video on SShock HighRes-series for download. It's Death-video and it have subtitle embedded within. I tried to find similar SS1 subtitle-font but only font that is at least close to orginal and yet readable was Courier New. And text have same colour as orginal have.

Again, I must ask help for my little project. I need SShock 1 savegame from at the end of game. Unfortunately I don't have my own savegame at that point, because I have restarted my SShock playthrought.

I really appreciate little speed up on this project, so if you have savegame at that point please send it to me. Thanks.

Playing System Shock 1 at 1024x768. What a wonderful experience! Woot!

    UNG!

Ahem. Here's the file. Let me know once you have it, and I'll take it offline.

    Thank you very much, TNT!

Now I have enough info to finish Endgame-video.

I will upload it soon after I have finished re-installing Windows XP to my laptop. And installing linux, too.
Reason to do this is that I have downloaded too much crap from the 'Net and another reason is severe file fragmentation.
