I can't seem to find the secret room inside bernice's lab. Any clues?

Everyone's right, this mission is fun. L'arsene may be my favorite mission of all time, and so far this is turning out to be a good way to end his story.
I've run into a problem though. I've been reading through the previous posts and haven't found an answer, although I didn't want to check too thoroughly because there's a lot I don't want spoiled, so if it's already been answered forgive me.
Anyway, How do I get those red balls to work? They don't seem to fit into the holes by the pictures. Do I need to flip some switch of find some key?

    alright, so I've gotten
    spoiler:
all the Keys, Stones, and the Heart...

I am in the caverns, and wondering if is there any way past the
    spoiler:
large portcullis (gate) with the face above it?
I see a note on the steps behind it, but can't get to it. Is it related to
    spoiler:
the locked door on the ruined second story?

Lobster: later you will get a key that unlocks those, the red stones go behind them

yep, looks like I went about it the wrong way?
    spoiler:
I stacked the two short statues by the catwalk and climbed up to the tile-floored area, then crossed the bridge to the Heart

should I have gone through the gate first?
these posts were a bit more helpful
oh well, 8 of 10 secrets and about 300 short on loot... not too shabby

MrMunkeepants: Very ingenious! I suspect that your route has caused you to miss 1 secret and 240 loot.

I guess I'm stuck. This has been quite an enjoyable mission so far. Not too hard, not too easy. Anyhow, I've followed
    spoiler:
L'Arse into the Den caverns. I've gotten past the portcullis and defeated Bourrique.
Now I'm up past the stone head breathing red smoke in a little room with a couple of bone piles. Don't see what I should do next. A clue please?

    WOOOW !!!
Finished: 7:35, 305 loot shortage, 10/10 secrets. Should say this one is AWESAME, EXCELLENT, OUTSTANDING mission. Great work Gaetane !!!

Btw. is it possible to vote anywhere for best missions of the year ? If not, why don't do it ? Every period (year or so) we can nominate candidates and vote. Categories:

    - the best mission overall;
    - the best story, graphics, etc...
    - the best FM author;

This way we can recapitulate played FMs and remember them...

Alright, as soon as I posted that, my better-half went and found what I was missing. Thanks folks anyway and please slap me around with a blackjack

P.S. Ghosting this one must be a serious challenge!

It's actually very well set up for ghosting. I did one round in ghost mode during betatesting and even though I'm not very experienced at playing in this mode, I got through almost the whole thing without being busted. I had problems with a couple of spots near the end but I know other ghosters completed it with no busts.

I don't particularly enjoy ghosting, myself. I'd rather use my blackjack to clear the entire map of potential troublemakers, then leisurely do my sightseeing in peace.

    spoiler:
But when the statues woke, I decided to try ghosting them for a while, just to see how far I could get without wasting any fire arrows.

Besides ... my blackjack didn't work on them.

ffox: thanks for the complement but I did go through the gate, and get the
    spoiler:
small stash under the stairs... I don't think I got a Secret! message when I did, though

I must have missed something somewhere else

Can I have a less cryptic spoiler for the second memo?

    spoiler:
I know it's near the touch ward, but I can't find it for the life of me!

What a mission. At first I didn't like not having my blackjack. I hate that. So I "named" this mission as a save-a-lot-kind-of-mission.

Then I finally found my blackjack and the hunt started for real. I backtracked and had a blast putting everyone to sleep.

Then I somehow misunderstood the hunt for the "globes" and went around in circles for a while.

But when it finally dawned on me the party rocked. I had a blast running around dodging those very annoying rockthingies.

But sadly all good things come to an end and this mission did. I wished it would go on forever as I had such a great time. Thank you Gaetane.
It's so easy, but I can't do it.
So risky - but I gotta chance it.
It's so funny, there's nothing to laugh about

Been stuck on this now since Monday so I hope someone can help
    spoiler:
I'm in Larsene's rooms and I know that I have to find the key to the Forbidden area in there. I can see a grate at the back of the fire place through which I can see a room that I am pretty sure I haven't been in. I have also noticed that there is a picture close to the bed that looks like a secret door. How the hell do I get that picture to move? And gain access to that room?

A couple of posts in this thread tell me that i am in the right place to progress further. Can someone PLEASE spoil me rotten so that I can continue to enjoy this great FM? I'm obviously missing a switch.
