Gotta love those search terms - that last one is pretty odd

Hits are way up this month too - the highest for quite a while, which is cool.

    8.2% of hits are via Firefox 1.0.7 - there's 1.5.01 now!

I'm really surprised we haven't had any Hot Garrett Sex search terms yet (hopefully the google spiders pick this up!)

Ok call me sad but I work out that there would have been approximately 100,000,000 hits for the past year as of the end of February with about 440 GB's of data...

I do a lot of this kind of thing at work, cost savings against usage compared to other web systems I have developed...doesn't get me paid any more though when things are going well though....

'Morrowind sex' seems to come up a lot.

Slightly odd request here. Would it be possible to see which emoticons are the most used? Maybe a nice list in descending order, ranked by number of times used in the average post? If it's too much bother, then don't, but some strange nerdish part of me wants to know.

Yeah, what's with that? I've never played Morrowind; does it have something to do with the game?

    It doesn't.

Suppose it could be someone looking for whether it makes a difference if the PC is male or female (which it almost doesn't).

Computers, like ships, are always female. At least in my mind.

If Ulukai posts a picture of a (his) HOT PC on the internets, is that considered flirting?

    Ooh

Who are you? What have you been doing in my house? Why are you taking pictures of her?!!?!

(Seriously, you managed to dig up the computer case that I use. Freaky.)

And, GBM: what's your definition of nonce? I'm getting 'time being', and 'present occasion' from google/dictionary.com. Neither of which seem to fit

I'm guessing when he says "nonce", it's meaning "idiot".

Although in the UK, the word typically means paedophile .

If you add "slang" to your search you will find this:

    1. A sexual deviant, having been convicted of a sex crime against children.
    2. An objectionable or contemptible person, by extension of the definition in noun 1.

So, in other words, exactly what I said then .

Yeah, that's what I got when I looked it up, but I figured it must mean something different when used as slang (as ffox has already pointed out).

Just for the record, I wasn't in the least bit implying that Enchantermon is a pedophile or a contemptible person. Definitions and usage are frequently at odds -- in this case, "nonce" has been employed with roughly the same level of ferocity as "ninny" or "chowderhead" would have been.

Perhaps if I were more accustomed to gaying up my posts with winky-smilies we wouldn't have these misunderstandings.

Your posts are always gayed up anyway.

I saw your post. My point was that it truly meant something different when used as slang. Ffox made known that this was the truth, whereas you just theorized. But to be fair, you pointed it out, too, I just was thinking along slightly different lines than you were. No biggie.

I didn't theorise anything. I know what the word means, it was which meaning he was using I was unsure of...

please don't feel compelled to respond to this
