Thanks, and great work. I've been holding out on playing T2X
I'll try it later today and give some feedback.
Both the full version 1.1 and the patch-only version are available for download. Even though the patch-only version weighs in at 33mb it will still update all four cutscenes so don't think you need the full version for those.
Anyway, enough ranting. Here's the goods...

This might be a good time to post a link to GBM's excellent DVD case art again as well. I've been looking for it and it seems to be gone...
Btw - this patch represents for me all that I'd hoped T2X to be. I was one of the first people on the team, but had zilch to do with the patch. Yet the readme credits several people who weren't involved with the original project (and even some who were antagonistic or critical of it!). What a great example of what can be accomplished in a community if people put their heads together.
Congrats to those who updated the expansion. Hope everyone enjoys it again!

While the list of changes might be included with it... could it get posted somewhere still?
Just a little something to read while downloading the patch.
No problem! And if you guys like the uncapped t2x download you'll love the free uncapped file hosting on http://uploads.agentstepp.com ! Once again, sorry about the Google ads, but they pay the hosting bill.![]()
Hey guys, sorry about the months of delays - we banged our heads against the wall trying to get the audio on the cutscenes just right and trying to get the installer as clean as possible. I'm happy to say we got all that 100% thanks to some large efforts by Duncan, Addink, and pfox. Here's the complete list of changes from the readme included with the patch and version 1.1 executables. Remember this is a beta, so it's possible one or two things may yet be changed:
Code and Gamesys
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- New installation and launching method. Thief2X is now 100% self contained
and will no longer place any of its files into the Thief2 directory.
- Convict.osm & Darkhooks.dll are no longer removed when T2X is uninstalled.
- Lightgem tuning is now the same as in Thief 2 (in version 1.0 it was more
difficult for Zaya to hide in shadows than Garrett)
- NPCs hit with an ice arrow and then a fire stimulus (such as a fire arrow)
will now be counted as "kills" instead of just getting "destroyed."
Art
~~~~~~~
- Body carry icons have all been updated with new art
- Old cobweb textures have been replaced
- Many small fixes to transparency problems with miscellaneous obj skins
- Many book textures replaced
- Some banner textures replaced
- Corona texture changed for lights
- Blood and water droplets updated slightly
- Finkle's accountant book texture redone
- 2 Down Among Dead Men textures updated
- 3 of the low res chest object skins replaced with better textures
Cutscenes
~~~~~~~~~~
-Audio remastered on all 4 cutscenes
Missions
~~~~~~~
- Accuracy of the archer in Unexpected Shelter is slightly decreased.
- Kedar now plays specific animations when he first meets Zaya instead of
"waiting" for set periods of time while playing idle animations. This
improves the timing of the first conversation.
- More cobwebs added to the basement of Malak's mansion in Unexpected
Shelter.
- Front doors of Malak's mansion are now indestructable in Unexpected
Shelter.
- You can no longer escape through the hole in the ghost room of the mansion
in Unexpected Shelter.
- The windows in The Trials that Shape us no longer resize to smaller
windows when broken.
- The text of Malak's note in While the City Sleeps has been updated so that
it is more clear that the elemental catalysts are a toggle rather than a one
time change.
- It is now easier to jump onto the sarcophagus leading from the graveyard
to the catacombs in Down Among Dead Men.
- The Orb no longer leaves your inventory if you destroy/incinerate the
bones after grabbing the Orb in Down Among Dead Men.
- The Statue Guardians in Down Among Dead Men are now indestructable.
- You can no longer "break" the beginning of Into the Fray if you flashbomb
the first 3 Hammerites over the fence.
- Truart can no longer be gassed in ...of Ill Repute
- Fixed key problems with the sleeping guard and casino safe in ...of Ill
Repute
- Light radii tweaks in ...of Ill Repute
- Placed crate to help escape out of roof area with hidden gas arrow in
...of Ill Repute
- The final end boss now "dies" correctly if you hit him with an ice arrow,
then a fire arrow or combustion arrow.
No,spoiler:iit means the invisible emitter on top of the statue guardians in the tower is now indestructable (minor bug).
Oh, okay, thanks. I'm glad it wasn't what I thought it was.![]()
I just started playing T2 again after quite a long break and so recently (as in yesterday!) discovered T2X. I wanted to come back here after playing for a few hours and congratulate you guys on a simply awesome job. But what do my wondering eyes see but I find the 1.1 version is available. Your timing is eerie. (Your not spying on me from the shadows are you? lol )
Should I just apply this new version? Or should I uninstall and reinstall 1.1? What about my save games? Can I just run 1.1 and go from there, or should I start over?
Thanks again for this mod. It's really quite amazing.
Just apply the patch. No need to start over. Your save files *should* be fine. If not it is easy enough to start from any particular mission instead of the very beginning again. Your save files will be copied into the T2X directory so that you can play regular Thief2 without Thief2 overwriting them.
Thanks for the quick reply. Applied the patch and everything looks great so far. And thanks again for T2X. You really got the New Year off to a great start for me.
You can just download the whole thing again, I've got the bandwidth to spare, especially if you're having trouble with the patch.![]()
Can Malak no longer be boulder'd to death in Unexpected Shelter?
Yeah, he can; I just tried it with the patch installed.
Feel free to flog me for this off-topic post, but where has Raen been employed since Ion Storm closed its doors?
I ask here because I'm curious what sort of professional responsibility he had to juggle while helping on this patch for T2X.
I'm presently at 3DRealms working on Duke Nukem. Top secret stuff, heh.
The big patch fixes come courtesy of Duncan and Addink and pfox, though I did a bunch of the mission fixes. Incidentally, we'll be adding a few more to the list in a day or two, including that Malak bug a couple of you guys mentioned above.
That's just what he wants you to think. He was last seen working out the back of a 7-11 going by the name of Susan. Professional responsibility indeed.
And lets not forget Gonchong (who has nothing to do with the crap above). He was in on the patch too. Fett probably poked his head in someplace... he's good at breaking things.
I didn't help with the patch, but I did open Dromed long enough to let it reformat my hardrive and destroy all my financial records. Just to keep with the spirit of the thing.![]()
Damnit, I was in the middle of the game (at least I think so) and now I have to start over! DAMN YOU SADISTIC TX2 DEVS!!!!!
Honestly though, when playing I was *rather* annoyed with the chest textures, I'll see if I can spot those other alterations, and yes, I'm so mentally sick that I'm going replay the first part of the game *only* because of the patch :P
Hey, you spend time on it, I spend time on it
Oh yeah, I haven't said this before but, thanks for making this superb game + it's patch.
If you have a save that's between missions, you could always apply the patch and load that save if you wanted to pick up where you left off.
Does that mean we can all stop by for a free Slurpee?He was last seen working out the back of a 7-11 going by the name of Susan.![]()
Sly ducks and runs....
Great! I should be re-playing T2X anyway. This patch gives me as good a reason as any. Thanks for adressing all the issues for making a perfect mod even greater...
