    T2 FM: Lord Alan's Factory (10 May 2007)

    Hello Everyone,

My latest FM, Lord Alan's Factory, has been released.
For the time being, you can download it here:

    http://lordalan.altervista.org

until my bandwidth allocation (of 10GB) expires. This is a large mission of 72 MB. I would very much appreciate it if others could host the mission for a while, too. Simply post a link in this forum. Thanks in advance to all the people who will host this mission on their site.

Additional download links (added by Nightwalker):
    http://www.thiefmissions.com/m/LordAlansFactory
    http://thief-thecircle.com/missions/
    http://keepofmetalandgold.com/fmarchive.htm
    http://www.ttlg.de/de/download/navig...M-Download.xml
    http://darklurker.org/T2_DarkOrg.html

Please read carefully the darkloader readme file before you start playing Lord Alan's Factory. There are three different styles of play. The last one is Timed. You probably do not want to play Timed the first time through.

    Enjoy.

PS Versione italiana (Italian version): inclusa nel package della missione con il nome di italiano_books.zip

This post is dedicated to profound gratitude to two very special persons who have accompanied my work during all these years:

    Linda as Nightwalker

I have known Linda from December 2001. She has taken part at the betatesting of all of my missions. Although she lives thousand of kilometers away from me, I consider her closer than my actual neighbors. Linda has been an important point of reference, both as a moral support, her availability to do those tasks that I could not do for lack of time such as organising betatesters groups. She and her husband Bernie edited some of the texts of the mission, but mainly she did a massive, enduring and extensive testing of it, many, many times, giving me very good suggestions.
Linda, thank you very much for your nice and precious help.

    Peter Smith

Peter is extraordinary. His straightforward and constructive criticism, his rational vision and his concrete support notably contributed to improve and render this mission more interesting. Invaluable were his many suggestions from the general setting to minute details.
Also noteworthy was his help in the story development, writing entire texts, and improving the existing ones. He benevolently tested the mission many, many times, offering each time much cherished suggestions.
Peter, thank you very much for your generous and wise help.

    Congratulations on the release!

I must be missing the obvious but where on that site is the download link? I've had a look at the other links on there and can't find it...

EDIT: I am assuming the FM hasn't been uploaded yet, cos of that message...

    The file is still there!
Uploading the FM to Southquarter at the moment, should be up in 40 min or so.

Nope, still can't access the site. Surely the site can't have crashed from too many hits already?

I'll download it from Southquarter then.

I know what I'll be doing tonight!

Thank you, Andrea, for this gift to the community. And your words of praise for Linda and Peter mirror my own feelings towards them, they are gems of this community and among the best testers around.

The original link worked for me. Just hit the light button and then choose Lord Alans Factory. The download speed is just as good as Thief Missions for me. Gotta go play it now. Thanks so much Lord Alan, your one of the elite.

    I'm nearly at the end.

    Question:
    spoiler:
All main objectives are done except of leaving ROENT. Where is the exit?

    Other Stuff:
    spoiler:
WOW! It is one of the best missions I've ever played. The huge rooms, the new creatures, the fantastic story... well, I cannot even describe it!

SethAC the exit is in the far corner of the big room that has the entrance to the administration offices.

    Regarding the exits,
    spoiler:
There are two exits, actually. Nightwalker mentioned the most obvious one. I should leave the other for people to explore. It is not clear that either one is an exit until you have completed all the objetives, and then the misison will end. So you may have been there before.

    It's. . magnificent - wow, just wow

The factory details blow me away, it's a pity it's a little choppy for me, but no big deal.

I just wandered around for two hours and I haven't even found out what to do with the codes yet. Which is a good thing

Though those floating mechanical probes (?) freak me out. They don't do anything (yet?) but they still freak me out.

    Enjoying it immensely so far.
