    New game Death To Spies

For all the Thief fans here, dunno if this has been discussed yet but you should take a look the new game "Death To Spies" from a russian developer "1C Company".
Just like the Thief series its all about stealth, the setting is WWII do.
    Take a look here : http://www.gamersinfo.net/index.php?art/id:1894
Currently the DVD version is not available yet but a download version can be found for 40€. at http://gamersgate.com

I finished the game yesterday and am already replaying since this morning.
The game can be ghosted but some missions are far from easy.

yeah, but a WW2 STEALTH game? when was the last time we had that? (RtCW and whatever shitty stealth missions were in the older MoH games don't count.) for that matter, when was the last time the story focused on the russian side? even the new company of heroes expansion only covers the british (and the germans, which is a nice touch.)

Is anybody else having issues with the demo? The render engine seems to crash after a minute or so for me.

I noticed not being able to play in anything else then the default resolution, that said, i installed the game in both XP and Vista do i must say i have a older graphic card.

I find it much better then the Hitman series, but then this is personal.

As much has i love Thief , it wont go on forever, the FM's are starting to dry out, wich is normal after dunno how many years more and more FM makers are starting to lose interest for the game, thats why new stealth based games have to be found.
If anyone know of any more stealth based games please let us know.
Its nice to play a shooter from time to time also do, to let the steam escape

About five or six Commandos Games.
I don't think any of those were 1st person though.
And you're right, we very rarely get to see the Russian side of the war.

    Commandos: Strike Force
I recall it was a bit rubbish though, with only three commandos and a hell of a lot more combat than the previous Commandos games (well, except Beyond the Call of Duty, which I finished by lurking around a corner and firing all of the group's pistols into the path anyone coming around the corner would have to take, wiping out entire levels that way).

dethtoll and the like are h&d series deniers, I wouldn't bother even trying to explain, they do not seem to ever take note.

balbaro, have you finished the whole game or just the demo?

I DL'd the demo last night and although I didn't get very far into it, found it a lot of fun. Kind of like a cross between Hitman and SC. Are there multible routes to your objectives and how long is the game?

I'll definately give this a go if the demo is any indication of the full game.

    Thanks.

I finished the full game and already restarted a second time.
The objectives are defined but how to achieve and get to those objectives can be done by various ways.
I mean its not a linear game where you have to go from point A to point B.

    Some minus points:

    Germans speak very bad German
    No climbing windows.
    No 1STP view.
Cannot think of anything else at the moment.

BTW looking forward to the next Splinter Cell, i think its gone be very interesting, being the bad guy for once.

I'll definately give this a go if the demo is any indication of the full game.
I find the demo mission the easyest of all.

Thanks for the info. Easy? I haven't found it easy at all. However now that I've played it a bit, it is pretty open ended which is a good thing. This also seems like the type of game where a first person view won't be a big deal so that doesn't concern me much either.

As to SC, I haven't played the latest installment as my card doesn't have shader 3.0, however I've heard it's a pretty buggy game anyway. I'm personally very dissapointed in UBI as of late. They seem to have abandoned the PC for consoles, which is too bad because they did make some very good PC games.

Now however it seems the PC is just an afterthought to them.

In that case you can help me.

I'm in Mission 10 (including the tutorial) where
    spoiler:
I have to rescue the informant. I have the warden uni on but I can't take a prisoner outside of the prison grounds. I've looked for a vehicle to transport 'em but the trucks on that level aren't drivable. I don't want to have to kill every single nazi soldier cus up till now I've been absolutely stealthy. I'm interested in what you did to pass that level.

Nevermind I beat it. Saw your post on 1C forum asking the samething. A sequel is already in progress which is pretty cool.

    Several questions:

*How does the stealth system work? Is there a light indicator or meter like Thief and Oblivion are are you left to guess ala NOLF and SS2?

*Reviews say it's difficult, but is it difficult ala Thief, where you have to be patient, or frustrating ala Hitman where alarms start going off and you have no idea what you did wrong? Hitman really pissed me off because I'd be 30 seconds from finishing the game and things would go nuts - so I'd have to start back at the beginning of the mission. Fuck that (console) noise.

*Is the story engaging at all (character development and such) or is it again, like Hitman, where you just complete disjointed missions that have the personality of a stuffed moose?

Wow I totally didn't know about this game. I'll check it out some time.
Anyway after some read up I discovered that the english version is censored. No hitler faces, swastikas or SS logos appear - they are photoshopped out.

    original game:

Maybe not an important thing, but quite stupid anyway.
