    CLASSIC THIEF EXPERIENCE CONTEST screenshots

This space is reserved for CLASSIC THIEF EXPERIENCE CONTEST participants who wish to anonymously post screenshots of their missions. Hotmail me or Dropload me a few screenshots when you are ready to take some, and I will post them here. If you wish you may also send me a brief overview on which OM your work is based, and I will post the note with the screens. Please make the screens 640X480 according to TTLG rules. I have about 12MB of storage on my IP space left, which is loads and loads of 640X480 screens.

After the contest winners are announced, I'll delete this thread and take back my space, then you may post screens on your own mission threads if you like.

Every participant in the contest is encouraged to use this thread when they have available screens to make all the taffers out there salivate for the contest entries in September.

A great deal of variety is obvious from the screens. Looks like we have many different styles of missions coming. Remember, these screens are works in progress, and the final views will probably look different. This is only a small representation of the authors in the contest, and hopefully more authors will send some screens of the works in progress. Just thought you might like a sneek peek.

Promising, with an interesting mix of building styles and, I assume, subjects. September is going to be an interesting month.

Is it just me, or is the architecture in the first screenshot upside down? If so, what OM is that referring to?

Could be like in 'The Sword'? Like a place with extremely distorted reality? Just a guess of course!

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's like Constantine's "Little Big Land". I thought it was cool. No one's ever really recreated that acid trip in a Thief FM.

Or maybe that person really hasn't got the hang of Dromed

Really though, whatever that author's doing: go for it!

My tip as well. Interestingly, I originally wanted to do precisely a mission like that, but in the end decided that I didn't have the resources in Dromed2 to pull it off decently (not enough creepy ambients and AI meshes). So I chose a bit more conventional concept, which will be revealed in September, taffer!

Wait to see Tears of the Trickster for distorted thingies, he he.

BTW, creepy ambients aren't a problem if you create / import new ones. And I think the creepiest levels are not always those which contain tons of AIs.

    That's against the contest rules.

I think Melan was talking more generally.

    Awesome screenies...

I love the dark, intricate street and passageways - that to me is what thief is all about

Those look great and certainly have the classic Thief look and feel. But I would encourage the authors not to submit screenshots with light_bright on (like the first few in that new batch).

I think these screenies are showing that, although those we've seen indicate mainly City-based missions, there's considerable variety in the designers' approaches - really looking forward to this contest!

Not really. Thief 2 by default is missing most ambient sounds used in the various undead and Pagan-themed missions, as well as craymen, bugbeasts, burricks and so on. This is a limitation that has to be dealt with or taken into account.
    [EDIT]

    I llllove this shot. [/EDIT]
