"Expert" is Expert, not "Normal" relabeled.

Unfortunatly it seems I'm pretty much stuck with what for everyone else will hopefully be a very rare bug:

    spoiler:
After having disabled the elevator the misssion just sits around and refuses to progress as it should (waited for 20 minutes with no feedback from the rest of the group). And this after a squeaky clean new install of Thief with just a minmal of patching too

Hmmm. Shall we discuss this here, Digi?

I sent a PM to you, Emerald W.

    Hi Emerald Wolf,

You're right, this is a very rare bug. Only 2 people have ever had this before. We never did found out what did it.

Sorry about this. Restarting the mission will most likely fix it. It did both times before.

If you begin the mission and only see black with the light gem and health shields, it means that the scripts didn't install properly. You may have to manually copy all .osm, dll, and dlx files out of the zip into the game folder.

Did that and same ole same ole.. Running XP Pro SP3 ,AMD 1989Mhz,ATI RADEON MOBILITY XPRESS 200M series vid card in a laptop.. Oh well will try on 2000 when I get home next week.

You should verify your ZIP file isn't corrupted. Can Digi or someone post all the exact file sizes for the four packages?

Well the file seems fine (310 MB). Maybe I'm just really unlucky (and restarting didn't help much). Unfortunatly I aslo can't spend any more time on the mission today (or during the weekend... due to prior engagements). But I'll give it another go as soon as I can to see how persistant the problem is.

    Hooty hoot!

I need to play gati first before I get to this one...

In advance, I want to thank everyone involved for making this! I have a feeling it's going to be one hell of a ride. (Ha, a reference to the matrix reloaded comes to mind there ...)

I'm unable to play it until next week, boy I can't wait.

Thanks a lot CoSaS team, for the unbelievable amount of passion and efforts behind this mission.

    Ghosting Considerations

However, am I correct that from a ghosting perspective "Impossible" is the correct difficulty level to attempt?

The rule in question states "Highest difficulty level available and playable, usually Expert, although it might be renamed by the author." See Official Ghost Rules.

For the REALLY expert player I highly recommend Impossible. You only get one chance to play it for the first time...and the challenge is delicious I can tell you....'cause that the way I played first.

    You're just a masochist Sly.

Expert is the Thief equivalent to normal mode, but with more challenge of course. Impossible is the Thief equivalent to Expert, but with more of a challenge. Thats how I saw it. Just say the bar is raised on your thieving skills. It is raised. You should of seen one of the earlier betas and how the AI were! Talk about more than impossible.

There is no right way to play, choose your poison and play. I started on Expert normal mode.

Larry, I think to adhere to the rules, Impossible is what would be expected.

    Re: The Torrent Links
I recall Jason's having a slight bit of trouble. It should be dealt with shortly.
