Sad... I cannot play this nor Gati because my laptop refuses to let thief 2 run... Crashes on startup. (with or without ddfix!)

This reminds me of Ocean's Eleven? >.>

Must be me, but I think Steel set off the alarm so I failed the mission. I was just crouching in a dark room by myself when i heard the alarms, right after Steel did his "accident" on the power lines.

kittykat, I sent you a PM.

Is there any that the problem some people are getting with the "box" at the start has anything to do with this:
Thief 2: (Many thanks to SinisterShadow for supplying the following information!) In some instances, the patch does not properly apply itself to the GEN.OSM and CONVICT.OSM files which results in problems in certain T2 FMs. This problem also appears with the 1.18 version of the SoldOut T2. If you are experiencing problems, download this. Open up the file and you'll see a T2 folder. Extract the new copies of the GEN.OSM and CONVICT.OSM files that you find inside and drop them into your Thief 2 game folder, allowing them to overwrite the ones already in there.
. Forgive me if it's a stupid suggestion as I'm technically clueless but I thought it was worth mentioning. The links etc. for the above are in the FAQ thread at the top of the forum.

    I cannot continue now.

The moment Steel's "accident" occurs, The game dies and Windows closes it. Tried it a couple more times and it's the same.

I'm in the same situation as Xenith. I chose the

objective. Finsished it and was told to hold tight. Got the objective to stay in Ivory Rose until further orders.

    I've got two optional objectives:
    spoiler:

Mark mistresses door (did that one)
    Find any documents to copy

I've been around a lot of places but can't say firmly I've explored everywhere. Is this just a matter of waiting a certain period of time, or do I need to do something to trigger the plot?

Also, something else. In one instance of the game that I ended up reloading, I got a message from the other guy in the team telling me
    spoiler:
he finished his job early and was leaving me his extra equipment in the storeroom (he was doing the elevator)

However, I got caught in that instance of the game and reloaded to the current line of saves I am doing now. In THIS game, I never got such a message from the other operative. Is that what is holding things up?

    Playing on "Expert"
    Thanks.

maybe it would do us well to have a troubleshooting page in the legacy troubleshooting area or something...

I guess I'm a bit confused now and my initial happiness for the objectives has gone away..

I was exicted when I saw "there will be no forced playing styles" - but then I get into the mission and I cant be seen by anyone, I cant set off any alarms and I'm not allowed to knock anyone out - all on the lowest difficulty.

I'd call that being forced to ghost?

    The Black Box Issue

There are two kinds of Black Box Issue. One has a light gem and shields. One does not.

If you have a light gem and shields - Scripts
You are experiencing a script problem. Please attempt to copy the scripts over.

If you have no light gem and shields - Videos
You are experiencing a video problem. This has happened before, but regretfully I personally was not involved in fixing it, so I can't tell you what was done. In the mean time, please play the 'nomovies' version, and you can watch the moves before and after by downloading a separate package. If you download the DivX version, start with 'Briefing' and finish with 'MeetingWithSheam'.

We deeply apologise for any disappointment this has caused, and hope that this in no way will diminish your love for the Ivory Rose Casino and Gentlemen's Club.

KittyKat - It's not that key, that's a different key. You've passed the other key already.

SneakyJack - I suppose it might be seen that way. No alarms, and not being seen by 2 specific people (Antonette is friendly, she doesn't mind if she sees you).
Did you know you can knock people out by using the sap on unhelmeted people, or using the poison, then stabbing someone (anyone actually, it works on everyone)?

Well I am playing on "Expert", and so far you only need "ghost" around a few of the main characters and their bodyguards. Everything else is fair game except you can't let someone press an alarm button.

FYI, A patch is being considered that will bypass the 'other agents stop doing things' bug. No ETA yet though, but we do have an idea of how to fix it.

Thanks to both of you for the info - I may have been too hasty and misunderstood the objectives.

I thought "disabling bodyguards" meant any of the house guards and thought you could not knock anyone out - I realized my misunderstanding after I used one of the new items. I did not know that only 2 specific people could trigger the "fail on see" objective as well.

Thanks to both of you again for that info!

Also, this mission is stunning to look at. Amazing!

Where did my mask go ? I got the window open to go into the base ment but I figured it might be a good idea to get a bow first so I am not stuck down there. I went to use my mask to see if there was any more hints available and the mask is gone. I had it earlier. Just moments ago. Should it be this way? i mean like only available if I need to use it ? WTHell??

Where be the bow? Got it !

Fuse box go boom ! This is an awsome effort. Loving it so far.

The mask goes away when there's nothing more to be said. It will come back later, rest assured.

    To Elkston:

About the documents to copy, copy a document in the room outside the camera control room that talks about the Eye. You'l get new objectives from it.

Ran into another "bug". It is possible to get stuck in the ventshafts on the lowest "reservoir" level. In the first, small, sqaure room with the grate over the water it is possible to sort of "fall" through the grate. Ditto for the rectangular "grate over the water" room adjacent to the hideaway. You don't actually go below the grate but it is as if your feet or legs are below grate level. No amount of jumping or attempted mantling will get you out. It doesn't happen every time but I strongly suggest saving before crossing this room.

First class mission you guys! Stunning, amazing, breathtaking and every other superlative! Having a ball...

I might as well ask this now because im sure im not the only one having trouble..

When asked to power out the elevator: Ive got the bad fuse and am trying to swap it out - but I cant for the life of me figure out how to keep the power off more than 1 second to switch them out - it keeps getting turned back on immediately, and then the alarm sounds, ending the mission.

I may have to wait for a walkthrough of this amazing mission to be released, because a taffer like me isnt used to this kind of complexity and greatness.

Of the many things I love so far - the feeling that something is always going on even when you are confused and looking for the answer to your next objective is great. I really like the way you feel like a part of something bigger and part of a team just by storytelling and audio clues.

Don't know what your situation is regarding guards but when you flip the elevator power switch, two or more guards exit a room farther down the hall and head for the power room to turn the power back on. I succeeded by flipping the switch and running like hell to the fuse box and swapping the fuse before they got to the switch.

    Hope this helps...

    Thank you for your answer

My problem seems that now I've knocked out all the guards and no one comes to reset the switch, but the power comes right back on within a second or two - and there is no way I could make it to the fuse box. It just flips itself on - no guards or anything. I'm very confused. I've got a pile of five guards and a ghost turning the power back on immediately.

Odd. Try flipping the power off and on rapidly. Then tell us what happens.
