    Wicked Webs We Weave T2 FM Updated 5/25/2009

    Its been a long hard road on this one, as this is my first Thief2 The Metal Age
    FM and after several hundred hours, and over a week of beta testing it is finally available. I want to thank Tannar for all the Hard and long hours he has put into beta testing, and for his Top Notch Loot List, and for editing all of my Readables. Also, I would like to thank Pavlovscat and Undead Gamer for their skills in beta testing.

    Just a note: This is a Modified OM and I have changed it enough to call it different than Miss7mis "First City Bank and Trust" The Story has been published, and there are plenty of new readables and clues. All of the clues in completing objectives are in the Readables. All of the Scrolls ect. are short in length and to the point.Reading is the key to win.

    This updated Version is a compilation of Requests and of Problems I noticed while reading and helping other Taffers. Auto Maps are now implemented, as
    well as a few updates on Maps, and a comment from Garrett, and an improvement inside the Bank. And this last update, yes! The very last one!
    Thankyou Gracioulsy Cardia1 " Pedro" for your Beautiful touch in the Courtyard, and Presidential Estate. Some Architecture, Textures, and his Brilliant Artistic Talent. This is the Best of all of the updates!
    Just a note: This has been beta-tested with Windows Vista, and the objectives will not work correctly with GarrettLoader. Our recommendation is to use DarkLoader v4.3. If you are using Windows Vista.

    Just another note: This is a Large Map, and has a riddle in it that must be solved but is easy if you follow the readables. This map will take some time to complete, and it is designed as a very Thiefy Game Play style. I may post a WalkThrough later. Just like in Real life
    one thing leads to the next. You are Garrett so what will you do, and how will you do it?

    OK, this poor girl is stuck here - is this going to be a problem at all for completing the mission?


    Hope you can tell where that is. I'd hoped she might free herself but she's been there awhile now.

    Well she did finally free herself after about an hour. I hope she just turns up again now. And then she got herself stuck again - but I got her out by jumping up and down a lot!! Still, she had no key.

    visit the Presidents office You will find everything you need there to get started. The Mech does get stuck here once and a while, but it is to no consequence and will not spoil the game.

    We were posting together! I got her eventually - sleeping like a baby now. Thanks darthslair - that office is about the only thing I haven't found or at least identified yet I think. And I'm a tad short of keys I think.

    Further Information on Modifications

    My intention was not to change the terrain much because Garrett had basically just left there and is now returning. Why would the Bank change within a few hours?
    There are a total of 20 new objectives, and the Story now has only one thing in common, and that is the "Voice Recorder". I didn't feel like the automap was necessary, and this helps add to the Title of the Story. This is a large map and is confusing, but following the Readable material will complete all of the objectives leading to a new Story. Just a note: I have added to the Bank, An Armory, a Wax Machine Room, A Torture Room, A Barracks, two new accesses from the inside of the Bank to the Roof top, and two new ways of entering the Bank from Ground level, The Mechanist Group Count is equal to the Old Bank Guard Count, Besides numerous applications in the Hall of Statues, and throughout the Bank. It is not the same as it was by no means.
    The Story is Completely different, and is divulged in Game Play. If you would have read the Story published in this Forum it pretty much says it. Now, I can see your point that the Textures in the Bank could be changed if this wasn't a Revisit, which it is. I have not duplicated the Bank OM,
    but the Time Period is Crucial here. Garrett left "The First City Bank and Trust" with the "Voice Recorder to go to the Sherriff's Estate to BlackMail him, and since he left at night, and was at the Truart Estate at night, he is also returning here again, at Night. Continuity was my intention here, not to create an entirely new FM with new Textures. The way Garrett feels while he is in the Bank should be familiar, and not changed much.

    Now, here is why it is the way it is! Within a Reasonable time period, Garrett must "Revisit" the Bank to place the "Voice Recorder" back into the Vault. Is the Bank going to magically change appearance within a short Time Period? Not for the sake of Game Continuity!
    Now, Why have the "Mechanists" taken control of the Bank? 1. Karras is involved, and the Mechanist have installed the Security Systems, and if you read " Letter to Associates" it says enough to start a New Story. Continuity was my sole intention here, and not to create a New Bank! The Courtyard and the Presidential Estate had never been seen, nor has the Main Gate been functional until now.

    If there was something that made this game playing experience miserable, please post in this thread. For instance: Too many keys you had to drop from your inventory, poor lighting for your monitor, not enough, or too many Powerups, Seeming Conversations without words, as I used T2 Stock Resources, and I couldn't find any Wording that would have been suitable for the:Arrest Scenario in the Presidents Office, only a Scroll on the Lead Arrest Guards Assistant. Was the InGame Story unfolding so you could understand it, or was it too vague all the way through? Were the Objectives too tough because of the Size of the Map, or for what reason?
    All of your Opinions are Welcome Here, as I am constantly trying to Learn to do better. When I play FMs I take all of these things in consideration, as to whether I would want to play it over again.

    A spoiler for locating the "Presidents Office"

    From the large main gate where you start, go west until you come to the first balcony and rope arrow up. Once inside, go left and there is a plaque to the right of door identifying his Room. If you are already in the Bank, find the Vault and go south deadending to a ramp and door to your left. Go up to the top catwalk, and jump through the Gold framed Window.

    Once in the Presidents office just follow the Objectives, and you are on your way. I have added two new rooftop entrys, and two more ways to enter the bank from ground level outside.

    That's a pretty quick beta test! How long does it usually take? Aren't most missions in beta for at least a month?

    Hi Digi,

    Yes thats true, and this one was actualy in beta for a month, as I had some local LAN gamers test it initially and then it was in Dussanders for a long week until everyone, including me had enough to be satisfied with the results.
    Now besides this as a hobby, its time to catch up on some Real Life issues which takes priority.

    At the entrance to the vault, Garrett says something about needing to remove the vertical bar across the vault door before he can enter the vault. I have accessed the room in the basement where the "machinery" for that bar is located, but I can't find any frobable controls. And I haven't found any other way into the vault. What am I missing please?

    Hi Marbrien,

    When the Mechanists took over, they added the combination lock to the vault and are using a riddle held and starting with Maltop who is patrolling in the great hall area. If you go to the hall of records, someone left a note that is the start to make it easy to solve. I dont want to spoil the riddle for anyone here, so if you cannot solve it PM me and I will give you the numbers. I know that riddles can be frustrating

    Spoiler for Combination Lock-Spoiler if you cant solve.

    2855 Heres the way of solving the riddle. The two Learned statues represent the first number, the eight brothers in the Hall of Statues represent the second number, and the 5 pillars on one side represent the third number, and the other 5 pillars represent the fourth number. The scroll Maltop is carrying is the first clue, the Hall of Records scroll spoils it.

    Yep, "Dark is the Lair" is the Continuing sequel, and is being made from Scratch. It will have more riddle like clues to solve, and will still remain thiefy in game play. I thought that re-editing miss7 was a good way to start with T2 since my last 7 TG missions.
