    T2 FM - The Harlequin (Uncadonego's No Pressure (un)Contest 16.12.2009)

Ok, taffers. try this one out for size.
Harlequin is a small, quick, and decidedly untraditional mission. I should have been working on Ladytaker, but Uncadonego started this thing going, and I got an idea stuck in my head. You know the story. Enjoy!

You can download it from the main thread: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130131

    Briefing
I was a kid. No parents, no home.
Running messages and picking pockets to keep my ribs from meeting my spine.

I certainly didn't have coin to spare for entertainment.

But the carnival was in town, and I wanted to go.
So one night, after everyone went home, I hopped the gate.

Time to have a little fun.

See the official Uncadonego's No Pressure Contest thread for download links. Authors are not supposed to put direct download links in their threads, as Haplo said, but they are supposed to link to the official thread.

This sort of quirkiness is why I love these FM contests.

I really enjoyed this, Balboa! This needs to come to Universal Studios immediately.

brilliant little mission it was like a trip down "Memory Lane",seeing loads of different scenery, from thief past!...I must admit I really wanted to jump off and explore, and I swear that I could see a bag of gold behind some of the first mausoleums...are we able to get in there without being on the "Wurlitzer"?

An excellent little show, Balboa. Will we ever see a Deluxe version? The concept could carry it!

I agree - I had a really good time just relaxing and having fun with this mission and its technical effects. A deluxe version with more games and more scenes in the 'ride' sequence would be fantastic.

    Either way, thanks!

this was a fun little FM, packed with nostalgia - it would have benefited HUGELY from higher resolution textures, though. that, and being able to snag more loot along the way
still, one hell of a ride for a traveling carnival; I lost track of the rises and falls, would it even be possible to build IRL? or were the "mystical gates" actually teleports to different areas?

An expanded version is certainly possible. Lots of ideas got thrown under the bus because of time constraints. Ditto for textures. But with unlimited time and space...

The track is quite linear - you could build it in your backyard. Why don't you? Invite us all over! I'll bring the beer.

    Glad everyone's enjoying it.

Nice mission, I enjoyed the ride. Thanks Balboa!

A small question: After playing the first game, Benny ran out of toilet and never went back in there. That made life very difficult for me. Was that supposed to happen?

    A small question:
If I understand you correctly, no. Benny sould visit the potty after eating the spicy meat pie, and not leave until after you finish the ride on the Harlequin. It sounds like he was distracted before he got settled in there.

This mission must have been the best sell on a long-ass camvator sequence. Enjoyable, and I don't even like camvators!

[edit]And I always wanted to make a mission with those opening lines. Beaten like a ten-years-old pickpocket on the street!

I truly enjoyed myself with this little gem.
It's so easy, but I can't do it.
So risky - but I gotta chance it.
It's so funny, there's nothing to laugh about

This was a fun little mission. Extra points for having In The Court of The Crimson King as menu music.

"Stay away... from my face!" Haha!

What a fun little mission! Very well done games and objectives. I especially liked the bonus objective.

That was how it worked for me.

I think Forje means the objective you get when you pickpocketed Benny.

(Pretty much what everyone else has said) - novel, fun & the 'games' were very well put together. Thanx, Balboa

Also would like to see an expansion of this; maybe the ride could break down in the crypt area...
