    A new Thief like game.

I did a search for this, came up with nothing. Wasn't sure to put this in here, or general gaming. We'll start here. Looks interesting, not sure when the projected release will be.
Some screenies remind me of Dark mod, just a bit. The faction names, City Watch and pagans. Couldn't they of been a bit more original.
    Violate, Vanquish, Vanish.

    Well that's certainly ... interesting.
Some of those objects looked a bit familiar too (the circular chandelier).

They must be part of the faction that played Thief DS and thought there should be *more* of the sneaky dagger kills (also ThiefDS + Assassin's Creed = win), sort of the mirror-image foils of the Darkmod and classic Thief crowd. Well, at least they seem to have a bit of work already under their belt. I'd think someone would have been on our forums before, so they know about Darkmod and Thief 4, but anyway if they're going ahead with this then I guess we keep an eye on them.

Hah, yes, fan boys of TDS? Perhaps. Definitely keep an eye on them. I wish they would give a time frame on release. I wonder when the forums will open, how much they do indeed have done already, hard to tell, they don't say much.

This is something to do with a T3 FM author... I see "Bittersense games" which I recognise from when I was looking on his homepage just yesterday or the day before, and there's even one of the same characters from an FM, Cabot the cartographer. Plate of shrimp, as they say in Repo Man. I was playing Cabot (the mission) last night. Author's name, off the top of my head - Flux, maybe?

Wow, they aim for a December 2010 release? I'm not sure what I should think about this, on the one hand it sounds great with interesting concepts like the beggars, on the other it seems to be way too similar to Thief and I don't believe that it can stand for itself.

edit: Yes, that was probably Flux, piln. I googled bittersense games and one of the results showed the release thread for his mission "Cabot" link.

Might be an alternative if Thief4 falls on its face.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it on this forum before. Odd. It might be worthy of a look, different aspects of the game, who knows, might be good.

Always happy to see another stealth game on the way, but I'm not going to get excited. I feel like if it actually comes out at all, it'll be in 3 or 4 years, and if it does meet it's December 2010 release date then it won't be at all polished.

But, maybe my cynicism is just a reaction to how many times I've been burned. Maybe it's unfounded. I wish these guys the best of luck, and I hope they put out a great game.

I applaud the guts to try such a game, but so far it doesn't look all that good.

My guess is they're working with the free Unreal SDK and will try to sell the game sometime later this year.

It looks oddly "late 90s fantasy game" in a not too nice way, mostly because of the models and texture quality. Some of the mapping (like the lighthouse in the shot with the castles in the back) looks top notch though, and if it comes out, I'll try it.

This game is so stealthy even the description is trying to hide in shadows!

And you are opposed to buying a game?...If it is Thief,TDM, Thief4, Visceral you'll always have to buy something !

I got Doom III for the sole purpose of playing TDM. It's been more than worth it.

Wrong. That's exactly what I did, and I know I'm not the only one. I don't like Doom3, I do like The Dark Mod, so I bought a cheap used copy purely for the mod and it was well worth it. You're making an issue where there isn't one, and (unintentionally, I'm sure) belittling the viability of the mod, but your argument doesn't make any sense - so don't complain that others are derailing the thread. If you post such poorly thought-out comments, you should expect comeback.

I don't really think this string of discussion will go anywhere useful.

    So, how about Visceral?

Same here, although I did try out Doom 3 several times, since I had it installed anyway. Each time I endured it for about 1/2 hour before I decided it was really ass. But for TDM, it was worth it.

By now, Doom 3 only costs a pittance, anyway.

To restate the obvious, you also can't play Visceral without Visceral. Longcat is long.
