[Minecraft] Official TTLG server

Let's officialise things a little bit.

I host a Minecraft server on the domain swankybonitaknickers.net which has become the de facto official TTLG buildy-thingie. As edwardhugget put it in the general Minecraft thread, it "has a really good community spirit", some of the buildings there are admirable and for the time being, it's griefer-free (not MrDuck-free, though. Beware!). Simultaneous population reached a milestone of 10 a few days ago.

So, first of all, feel free to come visit us (PM for Address) and build your own designs or contribute to the existing almost-fully-functional alpine village. For the existing members, feel free to post your screenshots and stories in this thread. I figure we could leave the other thread for more general Minecraft-related discussion.

The server is a virtual dedicated machine 'boasting' a constant 5Mbps bandwidth, excellent availability and, thanks to some very special members' generosity in this thread*, a grand total of (soon to be) 1 280 MB RAM.

I'll be implementing a Google Maps-style Cartograph-style export, along with better backup and admin options, and maybe a webpage with real-time statistics. Expect more news soon.

You people are awesome. We now have enough money for both RAM shares, and a few euros more that I'll leave for now. Next month I'll be putting the complement to get a third share
Special mention to MrDuck who is a generous, generous man. I know he tried to buy me, but I love him all the same while being unyielding on my opinion that we don't need any ops yet. We'll see*.

Well, nice going everyone that donated - I'm totally amazed at how quickly we did this! w00t!

Feel bad now that I'm spending most of my minecraft time deep in ma lair, rather than building awesome community stuff. Shall soon change that I'm sure.

We seem to be having a griefer. Someone did severe damage to the Alpine Canary office, smashed a window nearby and built a bridge (out of glass) to the roof, poked holes in Dresden's house, left TNT on Al_B's steps, blew up part of the old quarter, blew up the hut near the spawn, so on and so forth.

Whoever this is, fuck you. We're going to find you and we're going to rape you with a cat.
