Did something happen to the server? First I thought someone just blew up half my death cone, but upon closer examination it seems most of it just reverted back to how it was several days ago, while some of it didn't (namely some of the grass roof). When the world is saved, is it just parts of it or what?
Either way, that was probably close to twenty hours of work wasted. Oh boy.
I'd been working on the interior for the past couple of days, though, so that stuff should've gone through one or two controlled reboots and get saved.
Or maybe my sense of time is off. It was a weird weekend.
The server had an out of memory error, and had to be shut down for a little bit while Briareos fixed the partition. When I logged in afterward, some of my recent work was wrong in weird ways, like the middle of a tunnel having reverted, but not the start or end.
Some chunks were unable to be saved after we ran out of hard disk space. This has been sorted out and should not happen again. Sorry to everyone who lost some of their work.
I know it seems that the server is not stable and always running through new problems, but a lot of my scripts, architecture and security measures are fresh and being consolidated as we speak. I am fairly confident we should have smooth sailing from the next days on.
Also, please note that the server software itself is still pretty buggy and can behave in strange ways when loading/saving new chunks
And... pretty surprise coming later today!
All in all things are going incredibly smoothly, considering the game is in alpha. Little losses are good practice for the eventuality that we might have to start from the beginning at some point when there's an update that isn't compatible with current worlds, or some such. Better to try and more enjoy the process and less the result.
(That's not to say I won't go into catatonic shock if my stuff gets wiped.)
Kuuso, I had to rebuild the comp area due to griefers.
It's crude, but should be adequate.
And I entered the comp.
I think I may enter the competition myself, if only 'cuz I like to think big.
Pandora screenshots tonight most likely.
You guys are gonna kill my bandwidth... I present you:

so if you see me* just standing around, maybe staring at you building something, don't freak out! I'm just snapping a sequence of timelapse photos, most likely away from the computer, playing Crackdown 2 on the xbox, in the meantime. Yeah. Do some cool shit. I want cool shit in this video.
*raindawg, as I am know, on the streets... of Alpine Village.
Oh man, that shot is AWESOME. I see my trees by the depot are mostly grown in now.
The best parts though is we can see where the Great Expedition went, and I have a better view of the Dark Woods I can refer to when planting/building.
woaah. Does that map show as far as folks have explored? Some of you guys have had epic treks!
edit: I also feel bad that my bridge kind of obscures the lgs logo in the map.
Dont really like that bridge anyway - shall deal with it shortly.

Nice map! I wanted to have my death cone's helipad symbol visible in the next aerial photo, but it didn't make it, alas.
You can thank bob_doe_nz, tanzanite, and myself for the right side. deth and dres have been 'asploring as of late too. Nice work whomever went compass north.

I hate any and all of you who FORCED me to buy this game and play it endlessly. I can't remember being so addicted to something in a long while. Sleep is now meaningless. Work is optional.
Oh, what I meant to say was DAMN THAT MAP IS COOL.![]()
Christ, you guys are building wonderful things.
Anyone got any string? I had some once but made bow out of it.
If we have string, can't we dupe it - make cloth - and then maybe make paintings?
Has this been tried?
I've got both string and paintings. Unfortunately the paintings fell off the wall as soon as I turned my back, so I don't think they really work (unless some art critic disapproved of them, but they would've had to be extremely stealthy).
I have 9 string in The Smokehouse. Help yourself. I gave away a lot of cloth, but I might have a stack left. Paintings are client side, as well.
Server seems to have shat the bed, though it may just be me.
