    T2 FM: Among Two Storms (21/10/2010)

    Hi all

    I'd like to announce my new mission Among Two Storms. This one is also based on an abandoned mission by Redface. He kindly gave me the permission to use it as a base for my project.

    ============================================================

    * Story *

    Since splitting from Donal, Thom has made a name for himself. He has managed to get together a gang of competent thieves as well as building a decent hideout in Dayport.
    Last night his men pulled a daring job, stealing a valuable jewelled scepter from Lord Havij's estate.
    Tonight it is my turn to pull a daring job and make that scepter mine.

    Thom's men are currently in their hideout. The hideout is designed in a way that makes it impossible for a single person to infiltrate it. I always work alone but I think I need to make an exception this time. Therefore I have asked my good friend Palmer for his help. He is a very skilled Thief so I am sure between the two of us we can pull this off. Time to show those men who are the real thieves around here.

    * Important Notes *

    - The Normal and Hard difficulties contain considerably more clues than the Expert difficulty. Also there is one extra puzzle on Hard and Expert, with a different amount of clues. The Expert difficulty is basically an adventure game. If you enjoy solving puzzles and would like a good challenge, I strongly recommend you to play the mission on expert.

    - Garrett and Palmer have their own weapons and inventory, but I could not come up with a clean way of separating their hit points. Also, switching between the thieves plays the inventory, loot and weapon sounds. I couldn't find a clean way to avoid this either.

    - To successfully finish the mission both Garrett and Palmer have to survive, so when switching between the two make sure you don't leave the other one in danger of getting killed (by the guards, drowning etc).
    Neither of them would initiate an attack, but they will defend themselves if attacked. If any guards are killed as a result of this, you will fail the "No Kill" objective. Another reason for keeping them out of harm's way.

    - To avoid getting stuck, make sure you are not standing too close to a wall or an object when switching between the thieves.

    * Other Notes *

    - The AIs will notice if you bump into them.
    - The total number of pickpockets could be wrong.

    Just like my previous missions, I'd like to ask you not to give out outright spoilers when helping the others on the forum. Either point them to the clues they might have missed or elaborate more on the clues if they have trouble understanding them.
    Please also be considerate towards the people who are playing the mission on expert. They have significantly less clues at their disposal, therefore take special care not to spoil their enjoyment.



    I'd like to thank all the people who helped me, especially the beta testers. I hope you will enjoy the mission. After you've finished it, please post a couple of lines and let me know what you thought of it.


    What could be better than playing as a thief?! Playing as two thieves of course!

    Also, I never exspected that from Thom, the man always sounded like a chicken. Good for him!

    Seems that you make them faster than we play them!

    You know you are leading this game to a whole different dimention with your "adventure type" add ons ; Thank you so much, I love adventure games. Also, thank you Redface for suplying Haplo with your work , I just finished "of the sinister awakening" and it was marvelous!

    I'm stuck.

    I'm in a tall place where many sewers meet. I can shoot a rope arrow in a place on the other wall, but can't reach the rope anyway. I've also found 3 secret and an unfrobbable, maybe broken key, and a safe key. I also can't get Palmer inside the building, except the small casino place and it's backyard.

    Ticky, you need to step out of the traditional way of playing Thief a bit. You are playing as two thieves now, and they need to help each other in order to progress.

    Yeah! Nice!

    I've shot a rope in a wooden beam so Palmer could get a rope arrow and got inside a place where he should fill up an old generator - but with what?

    Will be playing this tonight. You make it look as if it is easy and I am still taffing with finding a way to built an archtecturally (I am sorry if I didn't spell that right) acceptable buildings. Hope it is a good one, I always love the music and sounds you put in your FMs!

    Just finished it on normal Amazing and loved the idea of playing with a partner! Waiting for your next one Haplo.You seem to keep them rolling one by one Until then i will try on expert.Superb work as allways!

    ticky - to solve that one, you need to follow the same concept as before the 2 thieves have to share things so if you get stuck with one, go explore with the other one and see if you can come up with something that will help the other.

    This was a huge amount of fun to test, just like Haplo's other missions. Congratulations on releasing yet another one and I hope you keep them coming!

    I am stuck, I need a hint:

    I've hit a switch with Garret and he said something like "...he better appreciate this!"
    I don't see what Garret just opened, Palmer is standing across from him (near the kitchen & bath), with two locked doors between them. WHat to do now?

    And I need a container for the gasoline. I've found the generator & the tank....

    Chiron - Palmer should have an empty container in his inventory by now. If not, you need to go back and look for one. Remember that you need to pass things back and forth between the thieves to be able to complete the mission and it will take some backtracking to return to an area where they can be close enough to do this.

    Woah !

    Now that sounds interesting !
    A thief game where you can switch between characters
    and adventure like puzzles on expert.
    Maybe like in 'Monkey Island' ?
    use banana on metronom --> hypnotizes monkey
    take stiff monkey and use as a wrench

    Wait, this one's out already? And I barely started testing beta 2...

    Anyway, enjoy this fine mission, everyone, I'm really glad my old architectural base was put to such a good use. Now I'm off to play the final version...

    very enjoyable mission

    This is a cool idea of playing with two thieves , well done Ali, i never thought this could be possible, incredible the things that can be done with Dromed , this mission is very nice and will surely be the percursor for upcoming missions with this gameplay style, the buildings are nicely done, the storyline is good, and the gameplay surely rocks, its original !!! the ambient sound and skyboxe are not new though, new ambient musics would have given to this mission a new set of atmosphere and more quality...think about that. Anyway again you have created a high quality mission, and again i was able to finish another of your mission (normal mode) without help, thanks for making it easy going on "normal" mode.

    Looking foward for more Ali
