T2 FM: Ladytaker (Tales from the Cleft) (1 Dec 2010)

Having abused my beta-testers enough, it seems appropriate to subject the rest of you to the sequel to Vandal.

    The story thus far:
    • The Hammers were behind the whole, ugly mess with the Hunters. Itís time for a little payback. Stealing the Mallet of Righteousness from the Tomb of the Unknown Hammer will really tick them off, and be lucrative as well. But it wonít be easy. An old associate of yours, Fat Timmy, may have a way for you to get in. Meet him at the Bloated Burrick.
    • You canít miss the Tomb of the Unknown Hammer. Itís a huge, gaudy mausoleum in the center of town, guarded day and night by a troop of fanatical Hammers.
    • The Mallet isnít that valuable, really, but you know a collector who favors obscure Hammer artifacts, and who is both discrete, and wealthy.
    • You are still flush from the Hunter job, but a few trinkets wouldn't hurt.
    • Once you have secured your newfound trinket, make your great escape.

Mirrors are in process, but for now, downloads:

    Enjoy!

    Congrats on the release!
Any particular reason you have included miss16.osm in the package?

Maybe there are Soulforge-like machines in the mission?

(I have no idea, just guessing...)

That's fine, actually he has probably used TrapDelayer script which is only available in miss16.osm. However, just like Gen and ConVict, the mission specific OSMs get installed with the game and there is no need to ship them.

    Crash

I have just downloaded the mission but it crashes when I start it. I can see the Intro but when I start the game it crashes.
It's so easy, but I can't do it.
So risky - but I gotta chance it.
It's so funny, there's nothing to laugh about

I'm getting the same thing. Something is wrong with the movies, when I take cs22.avi and b22.avi out of the /Movies folder, the mission itself starts up fine. Other Thief movies and briefings play normally on my system (I tried a few to be sure).

By themselves, the movies play OK, at least in VLC player they do.

As stated in the lady.txt file the movies use divx codec.

    Give ffdshow a try.

Does the bartender give me the package or do I have to find it?

After speaking to him, nothing has been added to my inventory.

If you haven't yet rescued Timmy, you'll have to do that first. If you've already done that, the "package" is the footlocker right there on the floor of the inn.

Oh! Vandal was one of the best quasi-recent missions, so this is good, good news! Congratulations, Balboa!

Thanks, I have missed the conversation due to some disturbance, namely two kittens.

Same here except the game won't even let me see the intro before it crashes. What do I do?

Big crash for me here as well. I click "New Game" and Thief 2 crashes right to desktop.

I'll have a look and see if ffdshow will help.

EDIT: Downloading the latest version (in my case, 2010-15-11) worked.

    Using ffdshow for Movies

I got the crash on Vista 32-bit when I click on New Game but I saw cattamer's suggestion to try ffdshow.

I downloaded and installed ffdshow beta7 codecs from sourceforge.net (they support the DivX codecs mentioned in the mission narrative) and I could then see the movies OK and no crash!

I've had (or at least thought I had) problems in the past with TrapDelayer not working, so I just include it by default.

    Movies are a pain

There never seems to be one answer that works for everyone.

If you can't get the movies to play on your system, you can just delete them from the mission zip. There is no critical information in them - they just set the scene.

And, did I mention that movies are a pain?

Look around for something that doesn't look quite right. You've got everything you need.
