    ss2 rebirth models for living npcs

    with the help of guys from SBD, I have managed to edit the models and corresponding textures,so you can now have rebirth models for (those very few) living npcs you can meet onboard the von Braun (edit: and earth+training npcs as well).

    works very well for the hybrid and rumbler chase,and quite okay for Watts death scene:

    Watts with the Rebirth male model is kind of horrifying. And not in the good way.

    I agree that it's far from perfect, but I personally still prefer it over the old lowpoly one.. anyway,it's just like with any other mod-you don't have to install it,if it doesn't suit your tastes..

    Eh...I dunno, I think I'll keep the originals. The chase ones aren't bad, but Watts and Cortez just look horrible, mostly because the facial expressions are locked.

    the downside to this is that I can't make Watts bloody,as the texture is mirrored,and that would make any blood splats symmetrical-and that would be just weird.maybe I'll try to play with the Cortez texture a bit more-looking at the logs,he is supposed to be bald.

    the ghost model can even be used for diego.it's not perfect,as the rebirth model was not meant for bald npcs-the shape of his head is not ideal,but that can be blamed on injury and/or mutation..


    I'll kill the old download,and post a new one once its completed.


    edit: it's up.as for Cortez,I was thinking of removing his hair and giving him a cap (that would make him bald and hide the model imperfections),but it's a bit more than I can chew.

    Looks very good. Watt's new face makes the scene a bit more intense in my opinion
    How about adding some more details like Grassi's glasses or Chrokers long hair?^^

    For the chase scene: I guess it isn't possible to move the screaming sound with the woman?!?
    When standing at the centre of the window, the screaming still comes from left, even when the woman is on the right. Only a minor subject, though.

    good ideas,bud waay out of my league-my skill consists mainly of copy&paste (maybe a bit of resize,and a drop of airbrush tool in gimp).serious modding is out of the question.

    right now,I'm redoing the earth npcs as well,and that is about as far as I can go..


    edit: 'kay,it's all done.basically,there is only one issue left with the current package-tried to wipe the scare from the woman's face for the earth model,but I'm no artist,so I was only partially successful.so say goodbye to the scared face,and say hello to down syndrome..fortunately,the game was kind enough to hide the female faces almost completely,so unless you study the (first two) female models really hard,you probably won't even notice.

    that means only one lowpoly model is left in the game-the suicide ghost googles.there is no way I'll ever be able to do that one (requires a model edit to add the gun)..oh,and the ripped off heads-those are out of my hands as well (pun intended).

    That would not only require new models, but also changing the properties of the in-game objects, which would require including the .mis files in the package. That's fine of course, but that would make it completely incompatible with any other mods that include modified .mis files.

    EDIT: Well, unless you did it all through textures, but that would look weird.

    ..guys,if you really want to play with textures,I'm attaching the one I was not able to fix myself-it's a rebirth female face used for the earth/training models,no need to modify the lips anymore (as that would require fixing the model itself),but normal,not oh-my-god-I'm-going-to-die eyes would be nice.





    edit: I'll drop in the original texture as well,just in case someone wants to play with the lips as well.

    Yeah, just tested it for fun. Looks somehow like the avgn.

    voodoo47, did you also apply the cap to corps_mh.gif? I don't know because its the first time I installed rebirth. Well, the two guys at the train look like they have cobras at the back of their heads and sm masks on their faces. The other characters look great!

    Random but related, but this past week I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with the author of rebirth, Etienne. He's every bit as animated as one might hope a professional animator might be.

    Random but related, about a month ago I met you, Digi. In the Dortmund railway station.
    I had just gotten off the train when I recognised you from your TTLG photoalbum shoot. Same dark glasses, same hat, beard and coat. You rushed by me and I took a moment to realise, then ran after you like a fan, stopped you and asked:
    "Sorry, but are you Digital Nightfall?"
    "??"
    "DIGITAL NIGHTFALL?"
    "No."

    Why did you make me feel embarrassed like some crazy internet person, Digi? Admit that this was you.

    Anyway, if you meet Etienne again, give him many thanks and tell him that spiky fingers are the shit. He'll get it.

    nope.I did not touch the corpses (and ghosts) in any way.as for the guys in the metro,they look exactly like all the other guys,to the last pixel (same model,same base texture).they are just closer,so it's easier to see all the imperfections.
