For the last few days things have not been quite right. Pages load fine but getting into PM's and sending same have been taking a long time....like 45+ seconds for the last one. Replying to threads is causing similar behavior.

Same, it's been the case on and off for me for a long time now. Firefox 3.5.9 here, on my home desktop, getting similar behaviour at work with Firefox 3.somethingelse.
I've just restarted the web and database services as the server was maxing out the available RAM. That should make it a little quicker

It's happening again - intermittent.
It is slow. I can't remember the forums behaving so phlecmatically a few years ago. Sometimes it takes ages to load, to post, sending PNs. I'm using Firefox. But it's the same with Opera.
"Preview Post" takes about 1,5min.
Edit: Posting this took more than 2 minutes.
Honest to God, I used to be able to download porn over dial up faster than this. Everything, from posting replies and threads to the operation of the admin control panel is just frustratingly slow. Things that should take me a minute or two at the most are now taking more than ten of fifteen, and it just drives me insane.

Seriously, the biggest difference I've noticed is when the TTLG server was moved from an EU location to one in the US a year or so back. As I'm based in the UK I thought the delay was purely geographically related but given the general speed of server response since then it would appear that perhaps there are other factors involved.

That took just a few seconds to edit, WTF.
For me it's currently a lot faster than it was last week, but then a lot of US sites were loading very slowly for me at that time.
I've just restarted stuff again, but it wasn't anywhere near maxing out the resources (still 25% RAM free), and it was pretty nippy for me anyway.

I somehow thought it was just me having the ridiculous post/editing times lately.
28 seconds to submit the last post I made, and that or worse seems to happen quite regularly these days.
Edit: Only 3 seconds to submit this one, though!
Edit 2: And about 25 seconds to save the edit.
Very slow again this morning - about 30 secs wait between submit and success.

I will try and take a look in a little while, but I'm in a hotel and I'm not sure what level of suckage the wi-fi has, so I can't promise anything!
Seems to be fine now, back to normal.
For future reference: the way I've noticed it, when it happens (not that often anymore), the post goes through relatively quickly -- if you clicked back to the thread mid-load & refreshed the page it'd be there -- just the success screen takes a while to come. So I've gotten into the habit of just counting to 5 or whatever it is, then clicking back mid-load and refreshing the page (after copying the post just in case). The post is usually there and it's better than waiting the whole time.
Still slow as treacle, even at the university - definitely intermittent. Has anyone had a look at the server logs?

At 7:12 BST this morning it took over 2 minutes for a preview to appear. The Submit didn't complete at all. I did a copy and pasted it in 10 minutes later - all went OK that time.
Yeah the whole forum just completely shit itself around 4am EST. Didn't come back for about 15 minutes.
