Here are the sets of animated enemy pictures from WL1: 1, 2

But you'd have to read through the paragraphs to get a real idea of what the game was about. (some of them are fake though)

I'll be disappointed if Fargo doesn't stick a Humbaba in there somewhere.

The "Ranger Center" is now open.

It is used to verify your kickstarter information as well as giving backers the ability to increase their pledges to higher tiers.

It was announced to the paypal backers and now the wasteland forum users, and later it will be a announce to the rest of the 60k kickstarter backers to lessen mass login problems.

    Ranger Headshot concept:

    Enemy portrait concept:

And, if you missed it, you can still pre-purchase Wasteland through the site via PayPal for those interested.

Can't say I'm a complete fan of that art style or those animation cycles for the rangers (it's very... 90s?), but it's okay. And that does sound like a brooding Mark Morgan score in the background.

I had to go track down a version of that screenshot that wasn't low res diarrhoea. Jesus, it's no longer 1998.

    Wow, almost missed this:-
Backers can get a free a copy of The Bard's Tale (REMAKE + CLASSIC TRILOGY) if they sign into the "Ranger Centre" before the end of 2012.

Early GamePlay Footage from update 23

@EvaUnit02 - 2 clicks went right to the high res version, and the bards tale link was 2 posts up in RED.

Well this thread certainly outlived its title (and its starter).

How Wasteland 2 Will Acknowledge Gender, Discrimination

THIS is the kind of reactivity that I expect from RPGs. SO looking forward to this.

The beta test begins this month, folks. All you backers are a bunch of lucky bastards.

Provided everything goes well there, we'll all be playing it around December.

I should really read these status updates, but I'd rather just get into the beta and crank the throttle.

I'm torn about beta testing. On the one hand, it means you get early access, but on the other, I have limited enough time for gaming that I worry about spoiling the experience by playing an inferior version.

Wasteland 1 re-release has gone gold and should be available on Steam and GOG in a few days.

Definitely curious about this, not least because I never played Wasteland - not quite sure why, since I did play Bard's Tale at the time and Wasteland was definitely on my radar.

I wonder to what extent they've 'remastered' the game. For instance, are the text bits that originally had to be read in the manual going to be integrated? (All of this info might be available on the Kickstarter page, but I don't have access to it from work.)

    Yes.

    From the backers page:
First, we’re ensuring it runs on modern machines, higher resolutions, faster processors, and all that jazz. We’re also giving it some polish for rerelease including a Mark Morgan music track, integration of the original paragraph texts into the game, and optional paragraph voice over & uprezzed portraits (both of which may be toggled on and off). We’ve spent a very limited amount of time on the WL1 portrait uprezzes and if possible we’d like to open up the ability to customize the WL1 portraits to the community themselves. We’ve also added support for multiple save games – now you don’t have to wipe the game clean to start over.

Thanks - sounds good! I think I'll definitely try this once it's out. (This sort of non-twitch old-school game would actually make for a great port for tablets...)
