It's the plan to have the installer do basic checks on the SaveGamePath value, but it's not in place yet.
Aside from the keys being in that alternative location, are there any 64-bit specific problems?
Ehi Snobel, your taffin' patch will fix the saves path problem on 64 bit OS too or we must edit it manually @ "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Ion Storm\Thief - Deadly Shadows"?
Replacing the exe files with yours did the trick. The FM selector shows as it should does!
Maybe this is helpful for you: My old t3.exe size was about 1,8 MB, yours only 80 k. In T3Main.exe there's no difference between the file size. Maybe there's conflict with the copy protection stuff?
Thanks - that's probably it. The smaller T3.exe is the one from the editor pack, and also the one you get with the GOG version of the game. I'm so used to it I tend to forget it's not the original file.

Can you reproduce that crash? If you can, please check if you get it also with the unpatched T3Main.exe. If you don't, then I'd appreciate it if you could upload a working savegame from just before the crash, and provide some instructions on how to trigger it.
If you can't reproduce it, then chances are that you've hit an 'original' Thief 3 bug (but I would say that, wouldn't I? ). The patch doesn't interfere with the saving code, except indirectly by preventing the property storage overrun, and that shouldn't ever happen in the OMs. I'll have a look though, just in case.
Can't trigger now.
The 1.1.1 release is finally out. I've updated the first post to reflect the current overall status. Edit: Changed the thread title too, pretentiously mimicking TafferPatcher/TFix...
Edit: Bugfix release 126.96.36.199 is out.
This version is mostly about FMs. "Why another loader?" you may wonder. The primary goal is to make it very easy and safe to play FMs: If you can download .zip files, then you can play FMs, with no fear of messing up your installation, breaking the original game. (Well, that's the intention...)
If you're not interested in FMs, then
go see the doctorthere's not much new in this release:
- Better display of aspect ratios in the options screen: Now it shows "16:9" etc. for common aspect ratios, or "~16:10" etc. for aspects that are close
- Fix for video corruption on Linux/WINE. With this, Thief 3 should have 'platinum' WINE status...
- T3.exe is now terminated on exit from the main menu, to allow faster restart
...so there's actually not much reason to update. But please consider doing so anyway, so that any lurking bugs will have a better chance of being exposed. If you're using an alpha/beta/rc version, definitely update now.
A couple of things didn't work out:
- Launching FMSel using a command line argument doesn't work for the Steam version of the game, so for Steam users the installer will set an option to always launch FMSel. The original game can be launched from there.
- Each FM has its own set of options files, which can be handy, but also confusing: If you change e.g. keybinds or the resolution during an FM, then the changes will not apply to the original game, or any other FM. Ideally the options should be kept in two-way sync, with an option to break the link for individual FMs. Maybe in 1.1.2...
- On Linux, launching through the FM Selector icon causes a crash. Launch it from the command line: "wine /full/path/to/T3.exe -fm". The icon for the original game works fine.
There's also still room for improvement in FMSel. It currently is not locale aware at all, so you may get an info file in the wrong language. Also, if you need to play an FM in a locale which differs from that of the original game, then you will have to manually set the locale in the FM's User.ini file.
A lot of stuff that was originally planned for this release didn't make it due to lack of time, but it's still on the to-do list. The focus for 1.1.2 will be fixes for triple-landscape setups, and better support for the Minimalist Project.
Many thanks to the testers for this round: Beleg Cúthalion, gnartsch, Pheonix, PsymH, Hiatus and everyone who tried the betas.
The changes for the FMSel source code are here.
- (Fixed in 188.8.131.52)
The installer causes the checksum field in T3.exe to be updated, even if you cancel installation at the "Additional Tasks" page or later. This means that uninstalling or canceling installation will not leave your game install completely untouched, as it should. Note that the change does not affect the functionality of T3.exe in any way. If you'd like to avoid this, please manually make a copy of T3.exe before installation. Steam users are not affected, because the Steam version of T3.exe already has the checksum set
- (Fixed in 184.108.40.206)
In the Options screen, if you visit the Control or Input pages, then the resolution will be reset to the original value in Options.ini, so you'll have to set it back before leaving the Options screen
- (Fixed in 220.127.116.11)
The main menu version text may partially disappear, depending on resolution and/or aspect ratio. There's a fix for this in the patch, but it doesn't work.

Thanks for the hard work, guys! You're a credit to the community.
Hi, first of all thanks for this patch, it's much easier to have everything combined in a single one.
Now I have a problem.
I installed Thief 3 (Steam version) and after that your patch. I didn't check the "start FMsel each time" because I thought it was only for people who wanted to play FMs (despite there written to select it for Steam version ). Anyway after realising the mistake I uninstalled and reinstalled the patch and then it finally works. Now for some reason it doesn't start the game, for a second I can see that Aero has been disabled and then it goes back to Aero, nothing else happens. What could have caused some error is that after exiting the game, I noticed that Aero was still disabled, so I went to manually enable it and I had to do it a couple of times till it worked, by the way I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.
I tried uninstalling your patch, after that deleting any folders/files left but it still doesn't work. If I uninstall the patch then the game works, but of course I need the widescreen/multicore fix. Additionally I also verified the game cache through Steam though there was no need.
Also now when I install the registry key option is greyed out and not selected.
Lastly, since I'm not interested in FMs, is it possible to directly launch the game?

In that case your best/easiest option is probably to install the old version (1.1.0), still available from the first post. It's much less complex and since you don't want to play FMs (what's wrong with you? ) it's almost as good as 1.1.1. If you take that route, please report back if it works or not.Lastly, since I'm not interested in FMs, is it possible to directly launch the game?
It's hard to say what goes wrong. The non-Steam version has worked for people running the same OS, so maybe it's Steam interfering? If it is, then you may have trouble with 1.1.0 too. Moving the game out of Steam's reach, and replacing T3.exe in the System folder with the one from the Thief 3 Editor Pack, should take care of that. Now for some reason it doesn't start the game, for a second I can see that Aero has been disabled and then it goes back to Aero, nothing else happens. [...] I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.
That's normal. It just means that the registry value is the same as the path you chose on the previous installer page. Did you see that option enabled the first time you installed it?Also now when I install the registry key option is greyed out and not selected.
Personally I'm not into mods and the like for games, I just like to play them the way they were made and that's it. Though I do appreciate that a developer lets users make mods.
Thanks for the help.
Fair enough. But if you play the game and like it, then you really should consider trying some of the FMs.Personally I'm not into mods and the like for games, I just like to play them the way they were made and that's it.
The patch will work without FMSel, the installer option is specific to Steam and FM playing.I know, but what I meant is that I didn't know the patch wouldn't work without FMsel.
Would it be possible to fix the USB bug? When trying to bind keystrokes in Thief 3 while a gamepad is plugged in, the game crashes to the desktop. Pretty easy to circumvent if you know about the problem, but having the patch fix that issue would be nice for people who don't know about it.
