    Good luck with the project - the art style looks nicely atmospheric. It looks ambitious, particularly as a part-time game by one person but at least the timescale for the prologue (i.e the game being backed at this stage) looks reasonable.

    Thank you, glad you like it! If it gets funded, I plan to reduce my day-job time to the minimum, because as you say, I'll have a lot of work.

    Plus that's the preferable way to live. Doing the work you love, compared to just one that brings in the $$$. Best of luck.

    Haven't backed anything in a while, but am still waiting on:
    Divinity Original Sin 2
    Underworld Ascendant
    STRAFE
    Kingdom Come: Deliverance
    Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Values (not sure if I can really say I'm waiting for this; the amount of monetisation they've been pushing even before release makes even Star Citizen look angelic.)
    Maia
    And...
    Grandroids, the very first thing I backed on Kickstarter. Hipster mode: I back something on Kickstarter before Kickstarter was popular.

    I supported that on a relatively low level (just about enough to get the game), but at this point I've almost forgotten that I ever did pledge. It's a shame: Ultima is one of my favourite series ever, and I would love to see some kind of spiritual successor that actually ticks those boxes that are important for me. I've yet to see anything concerning Shroud of the Avatar that suggests this could be it; the most favourable thing I can say is that what they're doing is more of a successor to Ultima Online, which I'm simply not all that interested in. I briefly played the test version that was available publicly a couple of weeks ago, but even considering that it's not even close to release, the game struck me as a charmless mess that feels like someone ate an Ultima manual and is now throwing up individual chunks (moongates! virtues! housing!) with little rhyme or reason. Some people say that it gets better after the starting area, but if the first impression is this bad I don't particularly feel like putting in more time to get past all the crap.

    Backed Blasphemous. Has a nice Castlevania-ish feel to it. As well as just general good 2D pixel art-ness.

    Backed Pathfinder - Kingmaker. Very Pillars of Eternity-ish / Baldurs Gate kinda game. Always a fan of those types of games.

    Here is an unusual one, but a goodie.

    Orchestral remastering of the soundtrack to Wing Commander .

    I've listened to one track from ocremix by the "Fat Man" (the guy who did the music for 7th Guest and other tracks from Wing Commander) which was pretty good.

    And I just received an email from itch.io that is of note to this thread.

    On November 21st 2013, a Kickstarter by "Maksym Pashanin" by the name of Confederate Express was successful, raking in [FONT=&quot]$39,739 (according to the Kickstarter page for it which you can find here).

    I was one of the backers.

    We got 10 updates total after. The final few being months apart. Maksym took the money gained from Confederate Express and attempted to use it fund another game (which I can't recall the name of, this was back in 2014), which he got caught out for. We then never heard a word again.

    Until today 3 years later.

    I received this in my email today from itch.io:

    Kilobite has sent you a message about Confederate Express

    What a year!

    A total solar eclipse, Donald Trump becomes president, and Confederate Express is coming back from the dead like a malignant brain tumor!
    To kick off this exclusive bi-centennial update, here are some tasty news for you!

    We finally have something to show you guys other than a bunch of gifs and one-liners. This time, it's an exciting opportunity to experience an early version of our highly-anticipated masterpiece, Confederate Express! Complete with a revamped custom high-performance framework False2D™, 42,000 hand-drawn animation frames, and an ocean's worth of pixelated blood.
    Proceed with caution, as flying chunks of zombie flesh might petrify even the strongest minds!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Development:
    Confederate Express is approaching the end of its production cycle, and we are trying to polish the general core gameplay elements. To minimize redundant feedback, this early version contents have been limited to:
    macOS build only
    1 playable character (Jackson)
    4 powerful abilities
    2 enemy types (Zombie + Stalker)
    3 playable levels
    core mechanics: gold collection, experience accrual, interactive environment
    As development continues, the game's content will expand gradually (including a Windows PC build), up until we put together a final version of the game. You can follow progress on our DevLog: https://kilobite.itch.io/conex/devlog
    All proceeds collected will go directly towards development of Confederate Express, including contractor fees for our sound designer, AJ Lornie.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Rewards:

    Every backer with a pledge of $25 $10 and higher will receive a key to Confederate Express early version available for download at kilobite.itch.io/conex. In addition, a Steam key will be provided to unlock a full version scheduled for release this January. Target platforms are macOS and Windows PC.
    Our goal is to accumulate as much feedback as possible; so please do not hesitate and contact us via info@kilobite.com (no leasing agreements please)
    Also, please join us at private developer's forum, exclusively at kilobite.itch.io/conex/community
    And as always, thank you for your long-lasting support!! Appreciate ya!

    I don't quite get why it's a joke? Some people who you thought had run off with your money are now actually making the thing you paid for after all?

    My point was that we heard nothing for 3 years, then get that email from itch with the developer wanting more money to get it done when he'd already taken the money and ran, the first time round.

    That's why its a joke.

    And after just playing through "Inner Chains" which I backed a year or so ago, along comes a similar-ish new game on KS that looks like a MUCH better version of Inner Chains. This one is called Scorn. Has biological style weapons, stuff on the walls (like in Inner Chains). Love the look to it.

    I assumed when I saw "Every backer with a pledge of $25 $10 and higher" meant that they were referring to people who had already pledged. Or am I wrong?

    And who makes a Mac only demo?
