Im going to add more 200 loot, that will do 5366 total loot in the map for 5000 in "expert", is that enough?

Hi Pedro, Yep, that should be good for "Master Difficulty"

Well I have everything done except finding out who set me up! I guess the morgue stuff and pardon wasn't all of it. What am I missing?

You did:place the voice recorder on the Examiner's Table ? If you did, how many objects did you deposit on that table, 4 ? If after that , Frob and read the Mayor's notebook in his bedroom.

All I can suggest:In the Mayor's bedroom is his notebook which spills the beans. Read that. If it wont check off. Check your convist.osm to see if it is timestamped 3/27/2000 if not, let me know and I will post one for download. Just one more thing:did the voice recorder play when you placed it on the table? If it is still frobbable then just frob it and drop it on the table again.

I have gotten the hammer but the objective of reliving the thieves of their keys does not check off
I also did not set off the alarm and that objective did not check off.
I have all the other objectives but when I go to the exit the game does not end. What am I doing wrong?

The dont do objectives, like dont kill, dont set off alarms wont check until the game is completed.
If you have the 8 keys, and the objective has not completed, I would say check you time stamped
date on your convict.osm, if it isn't 3/27/2000, then it wont work well with VictoryCheck script.

Just for info, what operating system are you using?

I am wondering if yours was overwritten ? A new date like that, it could very well be corrupted.
I have never seen a date that on any stock thief files. If you would like, I would provide a link to the common thief2 convict.osm Have you had difficulty in other fm's ? You would have to back yours up, and just paste the convict.osm into your thief2 directory.

Most all my files in the Thief2 game dir. have this date of 5/26/2012. I did have to do a system restore awhile back dont know if this is a result of that tho. This is really the first FM mission I have played that I have had a problem with like this. I'll download the one you linked to and try it.

I mostly enjoyed this huge mission. I generally love sprawling maps like this. Usually. If they don't get too tedious. The artwork, sound, original voice-work were all superior.

    But. . .

I didn't really like the surprise mandatory objective added near the end to find the history book. If you are going to make objectives mandatory with required reading hints in a huge mission, then at least let the player put those hints in their inventory. The library hint was early in the mission, but the book could not be added to inventory. By the time I got near the end, several days later, I was unable to remember every single detail I read earlier in the level. So, search thread for clues. . .

    And. . .

The evidence jar watch evidence label was erased after going through the machine. It went back to showing just an empty "evidence jar" instead of "watch evidence" like I saw in the walk-through video. This made me think I had to find a another piece of evidence to put in the jar. After scouring the map, I just tried to put the empty "evidence jar" on the table, to see if that would work, and it did.

    Finally,

I finished everything except the steep 5000/5266 loot requirement. Even for expert mode, that seems a tad unreasonable. I fell shy of about 100 until it got to the point of tedium.

Despite my criticisms, I still consider this one of the best, huge, cathedral missions I've ever played.

Thanks for playing, and we are glad you enjoyed it. Pedro will update it tomorrow, and your idea of the carryable book "History of Lost Treasures" is a good idea, and it will be in the update, as well as some added loot for Master Difficulty.

The watch jar evidence you saw was from an early beta. It has been long changed since then. Glad you used the walkthouh videos though !

    Cheers !

Just as players will always learn to play, the Author's will always learn to build.

Sorry about the delay - lost Internet connection for a couple days.
Thanx for all the suggestions. I'd missed the interrogation room coin, the bag on top of a crate & the nugget above the cathedral power station - they got me to 4976. Honestly, that'll do (I'll buy 1 less broadhead next time!)

Excellent stuff, you guys Architecture, layouts, event scripting, detail & most of the artwork were really good - & the music / ambients superb.

(Still like to see more authors have loot as a bonus objective. Players who are a tiny bit short of the loot 'requirement' can then complete the mission without having to crawl all over the map for a couple hours. Just my 2 cents.)

We are glad you enjoyed it Sticky, and we are taking notes, always trying to improve through hard work. Just a reminder, Pedro will update another version and post the link tomorrow.
Should be easier to win the mission then.

I don't think you are looking in the right place. Go to your Thief folder, right click on "convict.osm" and in the menu that pops up choose "Properties". The Properties box will open. On the "General" tab, there should be three dates: Created, Modified and Accessed. What does the "Modified" date say?

the modify date is may 26 2012

Like I said earlier I had lost most of all of my files due to some kind of f bug on my machine. Using system restore and a recovery program I got them back and 5/26/2012 must have been the day I did it.
Thanks to everyone for the replies and help. It's not a big deal ,I Really enjoyed this great fan mission, I had completed all the objectives so I just forced ended the mission. I.ve been playing Thief FM for many years they are enjoyable and free so I cannot complain about a few bugs here and there. To all the authors keep up the good work.

Well then, should you want to try again, I suggest you replace it with the copy of convict.osm found here. You will probably have to uninstall and reinstall the FM in Darkloader or Garrettloader (whichever you use) and will most likely need to restart the mission from the beginning. But the objectives should work this time.

Actually, whether you play this mission again or not, I still recommend replacing your copy of convict.osm.

Constructive 'criticism' ahead, please don't hurt me!

I think the problem is that players are finding that pass a certain threshold, the loot has become very difficult to find. If you add 200 loot, but keep the 5000 loot objective in Expert, players may still not be able to meet it, even if the 200 loot added is very easy to find.

From reading comments so far, people have managed to find between 4300 to 4900 of loot, before they couldn't find anymore. From this let's use a middle figure of 4500 of loot that can be found, without intensive searching and above that figure, the remaining loot is very difficult and would require a intensive loot hunt.

So if you add 200 of, say 'easy to get loot', it probably still won't solve people's problems with meeting the loot objective.

A workable solution would be to lower the loot objective and increase some easy/medium to get loot.

Of course I realise that this IS Expert difficulty, and hence the player is suppose to be able to find almost all the loot.

I do wonder if most people were able to meet the loot objective on Expert though and perhaps it's just my Kung Fu, that's not strong. I only have ~4500 loot.

Hmmm... I found 5106 on my own without requiring any hints or something else.
And probably there are more people around who made it on their own and therefor did not need to ask for hints.
In my opinion the point about 'Expert' is that it is HARD.
Adding maybe 100-200 should be OK, but adding more would simply make it an easy objective.
