Has Microsoft ended all email accounts

My old msn.com e-mail account no longer works. I heard on the radio that microsoft is giving up on hotmail accounts because they can't stop the spam. Old accounts such as windows live e-mail accounts have actually been converrted to hotmail accounts.

Is this true?

Not that I've heard. MS is currently consolidating all their email/skydrive/various miscellaneous services under one umbrella. It's all been moved around, but it should still be there.
