A few random Thief 3 questions

    Hey guys,...

    1. If I solve half of Thief 3 and then get a new computer, will my saved games work on the new computer if its a different operating system and different specs?

    2. Is there a way to TOGGLE the walk and sneak functions without having to constantly hold down the SHIFT and CTRL buttons?

    Thanks!

    1. I believe so. Certainly save games seem portable.

    2. Hell yes, that's a pre-requisite. But it has some side effects - Lock Picking becomes mouse only and fun and challenging in a feel your way around, analogue sort of way.

Ahh... well perhaps I will be doomed to hold down the keys, might end up with carpal tunnel syndrome!

I got used to using the mouse only, that's the only way i managed to open the gold locks in Auldale, you can't use the keyboard for them.

If you suffer from some hand/eye coordination malady, then keyboard lock picking might be preferable.

But most of us do hold down the sneak and crouch keys if necessary while playing, don't we?

Or you can use left analog stick of a gamepad (or any joystick suitable for left hand) to control the walking direction and speed.

When moving saved games, don't forget to remove the saveindex.ion file as it contains absolute paths. The game will re-scan the savegame files and create the new one with right paths in it.

I've never used the keyboard for lockpicking. Didn't even know you could. I've always only used the mouse. And I've always held the shift key down to toggle walk/run. It's such a habit now that I find myself doing it automatically when I play other games as well.
