You know every single one of us are gonna rush out to the theaters opening day to see this. We'll feign disinterest up until the 11th hour, then we'll all turn into 8 year olds again.

I'm not going to feign disinterest. A guy who knows how to make good science fantasy films is making a sequel to a series that popularized the genre before being taken off into some weird mish-mash of science fiction/drama/politics that failed on basically every level. Even if I end up thinking Episode 7 is a bad Star Wars movie, there's a significantly good chance it will be a competently made film.

I was watching Plinkett's review of the Star Trek reboot recently, and I thought it was pretty neat that 5 years ago he said "JJ Abrams should have directed the prequel films". He totally should have. The Star Trek reboot was basically a Star Wars movie with a different set of characters.

Yeah, that seems like a fair assessment of Star Trek Into Darkness.

Anyone would have been better at directing the prequel films, with the possible exception of Michael Bay.

You just know that someone's already made the obligatory "Star Wars: It's about ethics in gaming journalism" version.

The biggest thing to come out of gamer gate is a satirical meme.

And Gawker losing over a million in ad revenue.......which is Ironic because Gawker's business model leans heavily on a strategy of running smear campaigns in order to generate clickbait stories.

Listen, you should really stop slandering GamersGate, because they're a decent company trying to do the right thing. Sure, the copy of Thief Gold I bought from them was DRM'd to hell and back and I couldn't even patch it, and I can't buy their fake money in less than the unit denominations they specify, and they have a terrible download client, but does that give you the right to call them sexist? Their coins are blue, not feminist hot pink or Zoe Quinn purple. Just... stop. GAWD.

So pretty much as I expected - you give Star Wars to a real director, suddenly you have shots that aren't "that back and forth facial closeup thing they do when people talk in soap operas" or "let's see how much CGI shit we can render on screen at one time in a big jumbled mess."

Looks kinda cool. At least more intriguing than marvel movies. Though that's partly the general attachment I already have to Star Wars.

The guy's sword at 0:55 is ridiculous and probably impractical but I love it. It looks different than the old style lightsabers though. Have they changed the look? I also like the droid spinning his 2002 world cup football under him at 0:30. That's pretty funky.

What about this one tho? Is that official or a good fan-made one? Love the storm trooper (shadow trooper?) at 1:03 there lol.
