You need it to open something you'll find near the beginning
Spoiler: You need it to get the Shield in the Crypt

    It's only on Expert

A little question: does our friend in the crypts actually see in the dark?

An hour and a half in this has been an excellent mission so far. I could use a hint on where The Trials of St. Dismas might be hidden, though. I have read scrolls from a couple of people mentioning it's being missing, but I have no idea where it is.

He certainly didn't have any trouble finding me.

It is located in the crypts, but not in the haunted part. You have to look around and mantle somewhere, I actually found it before reading anything about it.

Well yes, it depends which way round you do things as to whether you find it or read about it first.

The location of that item varies with difficulty level by the way.

Don't worry about him. He always has the same patrol route and he won't chase after you, just stay out of his way - when the torches start going out, you know he's coming....

Ah, is it in the little girl's alcove? I'll double check that.

Also, I've been zapping myself trying to figure out the magic seal on the codex. Wouldn't mind a hint there either if anyone has one.

Hint: Look carefully round the room. The answer is in there.

    Yeah, figured out the seal.

As to The trials, though, there is a scroll in a case in the girl's alcove, but I can't frob it. I'm playing on expert - is that it, or should I be looking elsewhere.

You should be able to. That needs Yandros, Random_Taffer or Tannar - it may be a script problem.

That's it. And that's odd, you should be able to frob it. Does it highlight? If not, perhaps you could try leaning forward to get closer to it.

It wasn't highlighting. I'll try it again later; that's the only weirdness I encountered - an excellent mission!

Already I've found myself escaping the bounds of this FM (Which is pretty sweet BTW), and I found this:

Any clue as to what it does, Yandros?

ugh, i have about 100 keys, a healing hammer that doesn't heal, a shield that doesn't protect and a certain person's skull. where is the item that opens the double gates south of the church on the west wall? got everything but the book on expert.

ValmostPhl - Those gates only open from the other side. I take it you haven't found the secret room in the guest quarters? Have a good look around in there. If that's what you're missing, you're not as done as you think.

Albert - I have no idea without looking in Dromed. There are lots of similar levers and buttons laying around outside the intended game space, although I tried to bury most of them in solid.

Kerrle, if the scroll still isn't frobbable when you retry, please ZIP up and email me your save game.

This is fantastic! I've only played about 45 minutes last night, but I'm stunned by the immersion and general creepiness this area permeates...I'm genuinely unnerved and apprehensive while creeping around! The level design is incredible, and the background music truly does what intended. Wanted to keep playing, but had to force myself to stop due to loosing an hour because of daylight savings and having to work early. But I'll be back at it as soon as i get home!

    Well done indeed, Team Drymian!!
