How are you supposed to get by this unseen foe?? I have died twenty times. He is on the stairway and I can not get by!!

Other than this it is a visual masterpiece.

    There is only one way:
follow him when he goes downstairs - since he is as quick as a devil you can not outrun him

    Or,

Hide in the small tunnel/shaft near the guard's corpse, wait for him to go to the entrance of the sepulchre, and run like mad in the stairs.

I found it easier to go just a bit down the stairs then mantle up through the opening into the other upper hallway.

Enjoying the hell out of this, but I'm really stuck...
Can anyone point me in the general direction of the key that opens the doors near where you first drop down into the church-type area with the invisible guy? I'm getting a little tired of rubbing this vial of warm blood on everything and hoping for results...

On Expert: rope up again and search the few AIs in the caves.

What difficulty are you playing on, The Mike? Since you already have the vial, I assume you're either playing on Hard or Expert. Items move quite a bit.

Thanks guys- figured it out right after posting, actually. Protip: whenever you're stuck, make a post on TTLG asking for help and you will be guaranteed to figure things out on your own seconds later, making you feel extremely dense.

This was an extremely creepy mission, gorgeous looking mission (I even liked the extreme darkness, since it actually forced you to use flares for once [note: I still didn't use flares]) I'm just curious, is the extreme darkness really a bug or a deliberate aspect of the level design? I ask because it didn't really effect gameplay...if anything it actually made it a whole lot moodier.
    A few things:

    1. The invisible monster was a nice touch, I thought. Needing to pinpoint an enemy's location completely by sound was a fun challenge, and every time I screwed up it was a great "OH SHIT" moment. Is there any way to actually kill this guy? I feel like I've left the job half done leaving him un-ghostbusted.
    2. This needs a sequel. When I got to the exit I let out an audible "aaaaawwwww...." It didn't feel any shorter than the other FMs in the contest, I just wanted more.
    3. Is the storyline based on anything? Like a book or an old game or something? I ask, because the lore behind it is extremely badass.

The extreme darkness seems to be something only a few people are experiencing. It wasn't an issue for any of us betatesters. I played without having to adjust my gamma at all and without having any problem seeing anything.

I had to set the brightness and gamma way up on the game settings and my video card to be able to see anything

problem loading fm in GL using fmsel

I have a clean install using newdark and haven't run into any other mission issue so far. I tried to re-download the archive and uninstall reinstall but no change.
I have the same issue. Does this fm not load in GL with fmsel? Is DL required instead of GL to load this fm?

You should be able to to use Garrettloader but I've heard that it doesn't always work. Your best bet is FMSel, it always loads FMs correctly and you don't need to install it since it's already there with NewDark. Darkloader also works if you do the trick I posted after the post you quoted.

GarrettLoader works fine for me as well.
If you say you get 'Running Interference', then you made a mistake and added this mission to your Thief2 FM directory.
You need to add this to your Thief1 FM directory list.

I put this in the folder I use for thief1/thiefgold missions.

I tried the workaround for DL using the ini file and fmsel, but still cannot get this to load, it does not show in fmsel. I tried GL with fmsel, the fm is not listed with the other T1/TG fms.

I am able to play Dark Walls with no issue using GL and fmsel. I am using Thief 1.19 New Dark and have New Dark for Thief/ThiefG installed also.

    Any ideas?

Also, when the interface messes up,you can expect a mess in your Thief2 directory. This goes for darkloader too. The best bet is Fm-Select for New Dark T1/TG/T2

FYI to all - check the original post, the author sent over some updated versions of their mission that may fix some issues people are having.

    update/question

got this fm to work, using the latest zip file, extracted into the fms folder used by fmsel.

Fmsel would not see this zip until after I unzipped it into the \fms used by fmsel.

    Now playing it fine.

in the tomb/crypt area, hear a "monster" but do not see if. assume invisible. how to see it/kill it?

You can use your ears to detect it coming, just find a suitable spot in the sepulcher to avoid it. There is no known way to destroy it.

tomb/crypt gate, can it be opened?

    can this be opened?

I found the vial of warm blood. not sure what to do with it. found the gate for the king? in his tomb. am I supposed to get in there? playing on hard.

found a copper key. not sure if that opens the door near the spot where you drop through the ceiling or not. not yet made it back as I am trying to avoid the invisible foe

The blood needs to be used in some sort of ceremony

Tried this, but it has no effect - I still get Running Interference. Where do I find FMSel?
