Yeah I'm looking forward to this too, not least because they're tying the Doom beta to preorders.

Will be interesting to see how Doom 4 turns out, since its success will probably make or break Id's continued existence as a game developer. Rumour was that Zenimax might strip them down to being solely a game engine maker if Doom fails (from some Kotaku investigative journalism piece IIRC).

Is that really what passes for a 'gameplay trailer' nowadays? Well, sure looks cool so I'm cautiously optimistic about it.

I was sold when the protagonist had problems with the coffee machine.

    (Damn, new-fangled espresso thingies)

I am a HUGE Wolfenstein fan. Well, since Return to Castle Wolf at least. That and '09 are some excellent games. I'll get this, but that video isn't selling me. Is it just me, or is this game butt-ugly? I dunno. It's not all about graphics with me, but it is the whole aesthetics that bother me. Kind of hard to ignore.

Here's hoping the shooting mechanics are solid, and there are tons of secrets!

I'm looking forward to playing this, myself. I missed out on Wolfenstein 2009 (it's gone from Steam, too) and I'm realizing it's time to get myself back into the series. Wolfenstein kind of changed everything for me.

Huh, I didn't know it had been removed. Weird. Must be some intellectual property dispute. Wouldn't surprise me knowing how sue-happy Robert Altman and Zenimax / Bethesda can be.

Wolf 2009 probably got pulled from Steam due to Activision losing the publishing rights.

I have a a few games that got pulled; Fuel, Frontlines, Wolfenstein '09 off the top of my head...

If you already own them, you can still redownload and play them to your heart's content, they just cannot sell more copies.

98% of the time stuff is pulled from Steam it seems to be Activision or Codemasters games.

Glad I picked up Deadpool during the 6 month window it was for sale.

I can understand licensed games being pulled from Steam shop shelves once the licenses expire, but what the fuck happened to Blur? Activision 100% own the rights to that game, there's no real reason why it shouldn't be on Steam still.

This looks good...but it also looks like it's going to be more cutscenes than gameplay.

So apparently Bethesda/id made the original game available as an HTML5 web thing. Pretty snazzy, although there are some weird graphical glitches on the door frames for me (and mouse controls don't work).

Now I feel compelled to grab it on Steam.

I was actually leaning towards this instead, but we'll see how things turn out. I'm still overdue a replay of Quake first.

You can now pre-order TNO on Steam. It includes access to the DOOM Beta, like the retail version. No sys reqs so far though.

Think of it as Hobbit tax.
