    Fantastic mod man, i really like your craft. How close is the release of version 1.0?
    I read you were close to releasing it early this year so i was wondering what happened
    down the road?

    This MOD is great but everything gets much much more darker in an unplayable way. All textures are black even on soldiers. How to solve this? Is there a setting that I need to adjust or choose? Increasing gamma doesn't solve this.

    Playing some of the original missions with the HD mod right now. While the graphics look really really neat I have some problems with Partytime!. Neither opening the door with the sunburst device nor going to the lowest floor of the alchemist tower works. Yes, I did restart the mission. Any advice?

    Hey Gecko, did you change anything with the guards in Constantine's mansion? I'm playing on Expert and they hear me walking up behind them while I'm walking across moss from an arrow, on top of grass.
    Also I leaned out in total darkness and the archer saw me.
    Or is this a newdark thing?

    I installed this today and played it with a fan mission that specifically recommends it (Forgotten Tomb) and Wow, does it look stunning! However, it really seems to entrench itself in your Thief 2 folder rather than politely behaving itself and going into your Mods folder. I tried using NewDarkLoader to disable it (HDMOD in the Disabled Mods field) and it still seemed to leave textures behind when I went back to playing Forgotten Tombs without the HD Mod. There are those times where you just want to go old school and play Thief 2 in all its old graphics splendor and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to temporarily disable the Thief 2 HD Texture Mod. Or is there?

    Hi Midgard,

    if you want to disable the HD mod just rename the HDMOD folder to something else (for example HDMOD_). I havn't played the FM. So i can't say what the exact problem is here.

    Thanks, Gecko. Yeah, I tried disabling it with NewDarkLoader but I noticed that torches in Bertrand's Forgotton Tomb FM no longer had a flame which was replaced by a glowing red golfball sized globule hovering above the torches, so something got- well, torched Fantastic looking HD Mod, btw. One of the best, if not the best, I've seen. Can't wait to go back and eat up all that eye candy. I'll try your suggestion and report back.

    Here are my findings:

    Default settings with no HDMOD installed at all:



    With the HDMOD installed and full color + bloom config:



    With HDMOD disabled by renaming the folder and disabling post-processing:



    As you can see, texture and flames look different so something must have changed in my config or got left behind.

    That looks like in the first picture you have the Enhancement Pack installed but not the HDMOD. The last pic is vanilla thief 2. My guess is you disabled all mods, not just HD.

    Hmm, you may well be right, TT. However, I don't know how I disabled the enhancement pack included with TafferPatcher. I certainly didn't intend to do it. I'm assuming the HDMOD disables it by default when it installs itself and when I renamed the HDMOD folder it remained disabled. I'm sure just a quick reinstall of the TafferPatcher will remedy the problem. I really wish NewDarkLoader could easily disable\re-enable that HDMOD. Seems so convenient to just put the name of the folder in the Disabled Mods field, then delete it to get it your config back as before. Thanks for the help..

    Edited my last post. It's at the bottom. I threw in a bunch of bin files in the obj folder since I use a mix between ones from the hd mod, necroage, res, and fms. I probably put more than necessary in there.

    After a longer break the Thief 2 HD Mod v1.0 release comes closer.

    This is a short preview of the Thief 2 Mission 'Trail of Blood'. All grass animations were created with a 3DS Max plugin by hand. I bought the 3DS Max plugin for a lot of money and it was a bunch of work to get this result of quality grass. The smooth wind animation fits better to the gaming atmosphere. All giant trees were replaced and it looks more realistic now. The new Thief 2 vegetation is finished to 90 % on all Thief 2 missions. More info in coming days.

    It looks fantastic, but the engine clearly struggles with this. There are like 12 FPS in there...?

    Some things can be optimized with the LODs. I recorded it on a LG 55" OLED TV in 4K and you will get more FPS without recording.
