TDM FM: Crucible of Omens: Behind Closed Doors - by Bikerdude & Team (18/12/15)

"The job in question was simple enough. All I had to do was break into some guy’s house and steal a ledger and then get out without being spotted. But that’s where my problems started, the house was owned by one Einrich Friedt. And unbeknownst to me at the time, was a usurer under the protection of the local thieves' guild. When word spread that it was me who pulled off the job, the guild leader who goes by the name of Lazarova gave the order to have my head on a spike. Naturally two leg breakers were dispatched, which meant I had to make myself scarce and lay low for a while.

After things had died down a bit I got in contact with an old fence of mine. He informed me that Lazarova is a wealthy and successful figure in undermarket circles. But what was unusual is that Lazarova is a woman, which belies her brutal and ruthless reputation. it’s likely she got where she is through wealth, meaning its possible she is of noble blood. My fence did a check of the Bridgeport registers and there is no noble family going by the name of Lazarova. So using an alias means she is someone who at the very least doesn’t want to see her dirty laundry aired in public.

The Thief’s guild hideout is rumoured to be located near the Old Mill somewhere in Langmillers Ward, Geoffrey's Wall separates the slums of Langmillers and Mirkway from the more wealthy parts of Becksgate. I will make my way there and see what I can uncover, but I will have to be careful. The City Watch don't venture much into the Tanners, and the Tagwell boy’s aren’t known for being as polite as the watch. Locating some information regarding Lazarova's whearabouts is my first task and with some luck I should find some incriminating evidence to use as leverage. Backsgate is like a rat’s nest, so there's bound to be a hidden stash or two to make tonight's endeavours worth my trouble.."

I have 2.03, but it's not listed in the downloadable missions list. Do you have a direct link?

So finally the fabled Dark Mod campaign has come. Part of it anyway.
It's a pretty good mission, and shows a lot of promise for the rest of the campaign.

It is not yet a full campaign, but it is a mission with small missions inside it.

Haven't played this in over a year and there wasn't much activity in the map back then, so of course I had to play it anew now that it is finally here. What a mission! It's Assassins, only in XXL size with lots of stuff. People who say TDM can't have huge maps need to check this out RIGHT NOW. I love the areas you guys added and I especially like what you did with my little bit. Lazarova's place is incredible now. Also, automap, yay!

I noticed several minor bugs, for example:
    - There's a piece of paper in Lazarova's barracks that doesn't have a corresponding readable data and locks the player. It's under a pillow next to the gambling guards.
    - There's a floating keyhole in Lazarova's kitchen.
    - There's a book that has no name in Lazarova's library (downstairs on the table in front of the fireplace).
    - A few floating lamps here and there but nothing too critical (one of them is near Geoffrey's Wall).

    This is a masterpiece.

Problem running this. Darkmod 2.03, After selecting objectives, any difficulty, mission loading indicator goes about a 1/4 of the way then pops bac to the objective screen, but that is now blank. First run used the mission downloader, then tried cleaning up and deleteing and manual download and install of the mission, same result. Any ideas what might be happening or ho w to fix?

So, just out of curiosity, what's the status of the campaign as a whole? Are the other missions being worked on? It's great that this one was released, but I'm guessing you guys would have preferred to release the entire campaign together. Does this mission being released mean that the other missions are a ways off from completion?

Brethren: The next one will most likely be a multi-mission release. Not the whole campaign, but a good slice of it. The individual missions are a bit smaller than the prologue, but together, they will be kinda sizeable. Right now, all of us are a bit burned out, so we're going to focus on other things, but I think the next campaign release will be coming in the second half of next year, Builder permitting.

Make sure your darkmod directory isn't read only.

    Try running TDM as Administrator.

    Finally, post your Darkmod.cfg file.

Try opening and closing the door. The Microsoft way sometimes works!

If it doesn't, look for one of the out of the way nooks in the library.
Oh well. It's quiet enough now.
