    A Thief Gold mission......Yippee!

Maybe we'll at last find the Alarus Extension

Wow...Does this FM look fantastic, it has the authors trademark stamped all over it. Thank you 'Chopsticks'

    Well, that was fun!

I love how this mysterious author managed to do something very cool without custom content; don't know how I can translate this term in english, but this was a great show of pure débrouille.

That was a truly spectacular mission, my final stats says 3hrs 1min but in reality I have been playing for 11 hours straight.

If you think Down in the Bonehoard or The Sepulchre of the Sinistral are confusing missions full of interconnected towers, think again. Up in the Bonehoard is a stunning masterpiece that guarantees that you will get utterly lost again and again.

    Superb...Thank you Chopsticks

Go into your Darkloader.ini, change the mission type to '1' otherwise it will load with T2

someone make video showing me how to do it,i would be glad to,but for some reason 10/10 times what i am told is not what my files look like not sure why

i only got a copy of thief gold and it works worse then my t1 game with path, but still have a massivly hard time with running textures on thief gold fan missions,i cant even play mages areas due to the doors not opening

but to be honest i am a t1/t2 type i though thief gold was shit in many ways

i will just hope othe rmissions are t1 or t2

i wish tg would just die

I'm having the same issue downwinder is having.
I first tried to load with NewDarkloader. No problem, it seemed. Got the intro video. Got the objective screen. Got the shop & bought my supplies. Started the game... black screen, aside from health & lightgem. Can access my gear/supplies, but can't use them, nor can I move.
Same thing when I changed to FemSel.

    I'm also running Thief Gold.

Thanks, Azaran! But... If figured out what my problem was. I was using an older version of TFix. Take a Thief break for a while, and forget to check for updates when you get back... >.<

ty azaran but i think the problem now is i need to figure out how to make the mission appear as a tg mission instead of thief 2,can someone show me a screen shot of the file i am looking for to make from 2 to 1 for mission,i tryed in both dark loader and fmsel and black textures

i check my thief 2 folder and saw not one .ini file so i must be blind,so a screenshot would be much help as there are a few thief gold missions i never have played due to this issue

Started the mission (works great now!), almost immediately wound up in the Alarus Extension, got myself the 'Bow Upgrade' (whee!), and then got completely stuck, unable to find a way out. I suppose I'll sleep on it. Gorgeous, so far!

Downwinder, the Darkloader.ini file is not in your Thief folders, it's in your Darkloader folder.
Here's a shot of how the mission is supposed to look in the file:

He's getting the missing textures even when using FMSel, so I'm guessing something else is wrong besides the ini thing.

@downwinder, are you actually running Thief Gold to play this mission? Not Thief 1 or 2? The reason I ask is because when Azaran asked you to edit your darkloader.ini file, you mentioned going into your T2 directory. This mission will not run using T2. Do you see the Thief Gold menu screen when you start?

This actually is not true, you can copy files from an old installation and things should work fine. I do it all the time. Even voodoo suggests (in the Tfix thread) copying the files directly from the CD into a folder on your PC as a alternate way installing Thief 1/G. But you should probably always run Tfix on that directory to make sure everything is in good shape afterwards.

    @ Brethren

I agree that simply copying files should work, often it does, I have also done that many times, but it can also cause script and texture issues which I have also experienced personally.

The point is every time a new TG mission comes out Downwinder brings up the same issue of not being able to play due to his TG install showing blackened textures. He has told us before that he got it off a friend a long time ago and he has been fiddling about with the files for years trying to get it to work, whether he has or has not messed up any of the files is any body's guess.

We have all given him advise over many years, all to no avail. If he keeps trying to play TG missions on an install that is obviously not correctly installing, re-installing the same (possibly corrupted) copied files is not going to resolve his issues. He needs to buy a new copy which is fully patched and make sure it is installed correctly.

Thief Gold on Steam is only £4.99

Agreed, we've all seen downwinder's posts on his missing textures many times - I didn't realize he was using a pirated version though. If that's the case, I'd say he can't really complain that things aren't working. I'm sure downwinder is anti-Steam, but you can still get Thief Gold on Gog, DRM free for 10 bucks.

Edit: I should probably include a mirror too for Up In The Bonehoard:

ok great but what does the file look like in the darkloader folder? we almost there not sure what one to open also if hidden how do i unhide it

also thief gold is finnaly running perfect, also how do i get thief gold to appear on dark loader it only has a spot for t1,t2,t2x and ss2 ,so i got no idea how a thief gold mission would even appear there i tryed to put thief gold in the t1 slot but it said it was missing thief.exe

just checked darkloader folder and i see one darkloader thing where it showed mission but it was not like the screen shot

if i drop the fan mission into the thief gold fan mission folder within thief gold folder will that work?

It goes under Thief 1, of course. There wouldn't be any reason to have both Thief 1 and Thief Gold installed.

If Darkloader is telling you it can't find Thief.exe, then you've picked the wrong directory.

Here's the Darkloader directory and the file. Remember, Darkloader should be installed separately from your Thief folders, and the FM folder should also be entirely separate:

To make it a bit clearer, here's my C drive:
