Yep, i knew that. Was just wondering if maybe some Obisidian members also were involved in Fallout 4. If not, then hats off anyway, because FO 4's quests and characters are surely better averagely than the ones in part 3.

Fallout 3 is a particularly low bar though.

Did you play Oblivion, or Morrowind? Fallout 3 is a good step up from these IMO, in that regard. And Fallout 4 is another level compared to part 3 again.

Morrowind at least has lore to compensate for the weak dialogue, though. At its worst, Morrowind is just bland, but I found Fallout 3 outright offensive at times cough*Little Lamplight*cough and the main quest in particular still makes me rage at all the stupidity. IMO the strongest part of Fallout 3 is where you explore the wasteland and find some place with a bit of environmental storytelling without any questing or dialogue, but soon as a character opens their mouth, it's facepalm time more often than not.

And it's not that I find Fallout 4 a great deal better in that regard, but at least it has some good bits like the Silver Shroud quest and Nick Valentine.

Fallout 4ís writing is indeed bad at times, but in a kind of strange way I feel like it makes up for it by the sheer volume of it. People may often sound like theyíre merely imitating speech, but Fallout 4, moreso than 3 or NV, actually feels like a living world. Its quests overall donít really compare to NV in terms of depth and nuance but more than a few have at least been very entertaining (Silver Shroud was one, and Iíve actually been enjoying my time at the Institute as well).

In any case, I think itís a wonderful place to explore, perhaps second only to Skyrim, especially on survival mode, where youíre forced to take discrete journeys and really pay attention and soak it all in instead of the usual Elder Scrolls routine of barrelling through the landscape, fast-travelling everywhere and getting more quests than you know what to do with.

Anyway, Pig, if you liked Fallout 3, I donít see why you wouldnít like 4, as it improves on it in almost every way. I would recommend trying it in survival mode first, though. It makes the game a lot more deliberate and slow-paced.

I do like exploration in games, so will most likely pick it up next sale.

F4 is the only I haven't finished yet so it might grow on me if I give it more of a chance. While I'm only 5-6 hours into it's just failed to capture my interest, as I've not found it particularly fresh or compelling in any way so far.

    For me:
    Fallout 3
    Fallout 4
    Fallout 1

Well I played 1 & 2 but couldn't get into it (just not my thing, 1998's my limit for old things).
    So basically, for me its:

Fallout: NV Modded > Fallout 3 Modded > Fallout 3 Vanilla > Fallout New Vegas Vanilla > Fallout 4

Fallout NV + Autumn Leaves mod
    Fallout 3
    Fallout 2
    Fallout 1
    Fallout 4
Fallout Shelter - I spent A LOT of time in this game despite it's spot.
    Fallout Tactics
Fallout - Brotherhood of Steel (I've never played it, but it looks meh)

I just want to know has anyone ever found the second alien gun in FA 3. I think it was 3. It's been so long since I played it may have been NV. I've never heard anyone mention it. It was pretty cool. It was laying in a long gouge of radiation far far from the actual ship. It set things on fire that never went out till they were ashes. I don't think it ever ran out of amo either. As soon as I had it nothing could win against me. Nothing had a chance. It's really hard to find laying on the ground in the middle of nowhere though. I just stumbled on it.

Also what was so offensive about lamplight, Starker? I thought it was funny.

It's a quest that railroads you into doing the bidding of snotty nasal-voiced brats so that you can get over a flimsy gate. And the only reason these little pests are such insufferable pricks and antagonise you a way that no real non-invincible children ever would is that they have plot armour. You're not even allowed to draw your weapon at the gate. It emasculates you right from the get-go. And no, you can't threaten them, you can't bribe them, you can't sneak in, you can't blow the gate to smithereens. It's like a microcosm of everything that's wrong with Fallout 3. It's the equivalent of the game slapping your face and saying, "Stop slapping yourself! Stop slapping yourself! Hey, why are you slapping yourself?"

    *deep breath*

And none of it makes any sense. These children are surviving on their own in the wasteland where even adults struggle. They are located right between murderous raiders and an entrance to the place where supermutants are coming from. Where do they keep getting new children? And the "town" is run by the smaller children, which means the older kids are taking orders from children that are both younger than themselves and more new to the place. It's a goddamn travesty.

I thought it was hilarious. Not a whole lot makes sense about Fallout anyway. It's over the top and that's what I like about it. In each you get to schmooze various characters and this was no different. Guns ablaze is often the least interesting way to do things. So I take it party boy did not make it through the desert to his destination? Schmooze his girlfriend at the new town and she would bring you stuff every time you dropped by.

The only ones that annoyed me were the legion. They pissed me off so much I just went to their city and killed them all.

So nobody found the second alien blaster?

Agreed. I can't play the evil character in these games.

The second alien blaster in the base game was Firelance. It's a random encounter.

I BRING LIFE, FOR I AM THE WELLSPRING ETERNAL!

    Fallout: New Vegas
    Fallout 2
    Fallout 1
    Fallout 3

I have played a bit of Fallout 4, but certainly not nearly enough to even consider ranking it, but I guess I'd still place it at the bottom most likely, from what I experienced. Mind you, I still had fun with it at the end of the day.

    Toodles.

I'm one of the punks who can only get into the 3 and on games, unfortunately.

    1. Fallout New Vegas - One of my favourite games of all time.
    2. Fallout 3 - An amazing game
    3. Fallout 4 - A terrible RPG, a terrible narrative driven game, a terrible FPS and an atrocious third person shooter. Cannot stand this game, no matter how I try to look at it.
