I'd like to include one or two such within my mission if they're allowable.
That's a very good question. I'm tempted to say no, since that includes new UI graphics that are only allowed for the in-game map(s). Yandros, what do you think?

Hmmmmm, I think it could go either way. My inclination is to allow it in the spirit of allowing custom maps, although it could be abused.

Okay, how about this: custom book art is allowed, but limited. Something like 2 custom book arts maximum, sounds good?

That's good enough for me. Thanks!

Would custom art for paintings be allowed?
    Also any desaturation of textures?

My guess would be, desaturation of texures, yes. Custom art, no.

    Okay, thanks, Tannar.
Are we allowed to edit the abilities, etc. of the AI?

Yes, you can change the properties of anything, and use a custom gamesys. You can also make derivative textures as long as they are recognizable as being based on an original texture, but no custom paintings as that would be use of custom textures.

Can we use copies of original textures, to use it as dds format (dxt5 for example) with alpha format to put glowing map/illum map for windows textures ?

I don't using new textures, and just apply alpha mask and have little work on color.

Then you can advise some bloom parameters when you release your mission ?

In NewDark, what is the maximum number of plogyons before the engine hits the old "scene complexity" problem?

I've hit 15,000 scene polys before without a crash.

I will update the list above as I hear from people.

My missions progress has been pretty slow lately but I am still working on it alongside something else (that something else is what's taking time away from my contest FM). So yes I am working on it but idk if it's set in stone yet but there's still 5 months left which is plenty of time. So I'd say probably is the category I'd fit in.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as SneakyGuy101. Progress has been slow, mostly because I keep letting myself get distracted by other things. As long as I can convince myself to leave those other projects on the backburner, though, I think I can still finish on time. Go ahead and put me in the "Probably" category for now.

Put me down as a "Yes". I still have a couple of areas to build, plus a lot of texturing, patrols, scripting, books, ambient, objectives, etc. But my mission is not very big so I think I should be able to make it. We still have 5 months left, and each of my previous missions took less than 5 months to complete.

Put me down as "probably". I'd say my mission is around 70% complete, but I've not been able to make any progress on it in the last month or so. My goal is still to complete it in time for the deadline, and there should be plenty of time, but I'll have to wait and see.

Surprise entry! StinkyKitty and I are currently working on a mission together, which will hopefully be ready in time for the deadline. If it's not, it will still be released in one way or another once it's finished. At this point I'd estimate that it's maybe at 20% completion, give or take a bit.

What a lovely surprise! I must be clairvoyant then, because yesterday when starting this process, I could have sworn I had seen something from SK about working on an entry and was sad when I couldn't find any mention of it. I put you under "Probably" for now.

I modified the rule concerning new sound arrangements using stock resources, so original sounds can be identified better. The rule now is:
Contestants can create new arrangements using stock sound files only. A new sound name needs to contain the name of the original file in it. Example: abyss1_slow.wav.

Assuming the probablys will participate, there are anywhere from 14 to 21 possible missions. There hasn't been that many entries since Komag's final contest way back in 2004 (unless you count the crap contest).

    This could be epic!

Don't fool yourself into thinking that even all of the YES counts above will make the deadline, it rarely happens. That being said, I think that 10 missions making the deadline isn't unrealistic and would still be pretty epic.

Also, the SSR Contest was I believe in 2005, and had 13 entries if memory serves.

    A Video Question...

Before I go any further with my entry, there's something I need to know about videos. I know that video briefings are allowed, but I was wondering if I could have videos for in-game events. If not, oh well. I'll just think of something else.

Hmm, I'm inclined to say no to this for a few reasons, most notably possible abuse of some of the rules.
