Thread: Thief: The Dark Project 20th Anniversary Contest - Screenshots & Teasers

Here's a very early screenshot from the mission I'm working on. I'm also planning on making a 2-mission campaign, though the missions will probably be on the smaller side. Mission 1 will be a haunted cathedral and mission 2 will be a bonehoard-style crypt.

A haunted cathedral and a crypt? I'm excited

By the way, I've also been working on a church, and it looks very similar to yours, just a bit smaller. It's also not haunted

Due to Physical Strain I am to take some time off. I leave you with this small teaser for now.

Great looking mine, Phantom! And that library looks great, Haplo!

Stubborn me still wants to work with a strained shoulder. I grew impatient after playing Diablo III for a few days. I felt like I needed to get some work done. So I did. Here are some more screenshots.

Nice shots, although it looks like all the objects are fully lit. Is that intentional? Are you still using the OldDark light commands perhaps? They let you toggle full lighting on only objects or terrain separately, but NewDark added toggle_lighting to keep them synchronized.

I use different lighting techniques. I mainly use it for the doors. It's a weird habit.

So you're setting all the objects to be 100% lit then? On purpose? Just seems odd to me. Players won't be able to see the frob highlight on frobbable objects, among other things that will affect gameplay.

Maybe it's an artistic decision like the significant things having color in Sin City- or the girl in the red coat in Schindler's List?

For a game where highlighted objects mean you can interact with them, it's a terrible idea, however.

It definitely looks like you have "Toggle Lit Objects" on. You also have some very interesting uses for stained glass.

Not criticizing at all, overall your stuff looks great. Is this an entry for the contest?

I don't keep "Toggle Lit Objects" On. I just do so to align. I turn it off after of course.

As for it being a Contest Entry. I'm on the fence about it, but I'm more than likely considering it. I just have no story, just a map to construct and a few names.

EDIT: Here. A screenshot without objects lit. =P

Nice screen. Interesting to see what's going on with some of the texturing, though. Underlying glass windows for brick textures? Windowed pillars?

An updated version of Garrett's room. I like it better than the one I posted in the first page.

Ok. I'm going to throw up one more shot here. This might be the last one.

vegetables, I really like the cathedral hall, it looks glorious. There's only one thing (actually two, but changing hanging candelier could be against the rules, dunno) that catches my eye -- try to work a little bit with celling textures adjustment.
Phantom, extraordinary made mines. I like it.

I am intrigued by these screenies. How marvelous it will be to play some old Gold games again!

These are probably the last screenshots from me. I don't want to spoil anything from the second mission.
