Describe each game in the OT badly in one sentence.

    Thief 1:
Doom the entire world because you're a greedy loser who let himself be charmed by a rich old man, then clean up the mess you made.

    Thief 2:
Team up with a woman who mutilated you to stop a religious, robot building chipmunk from farting the world to death.

    Thief 3:
A bunch of book nerds accuse you of murder while you try to stop an old woman using wingdings.

i sometime wonder by garrett doing what he did in thief 1=killing woodsie lord,if it helped the mechs become who they were due to garrett's actions

a small example is if garrett never killed woodsie lord in thief 1 would karras been able to get as far as he did in thief 2

and a paradox was also in thief 2,showing time travel, thief could be so deep if it wanted to be

my final though is thief should have had a sci-fi base from the start

assasins creed simulation stuff should have been more defined in thief as i feel assassins creed stole the idea from thief 2,mission where you find cop dead

Thief 1: I have to steal an eye for a secretive person, then this person turns out to be the devil and plucks out my own eye, then I kill the devil and the game ends.

Thief 2: I have to stop the plans of a crazy person with a speech disorder with the help of the devil's wife.

Thief 3: Some crazy dudes are meddling with prophecies and I hang around them, until I find myself battling a crazy granny.

Thief 4: I jump to the rooftops with a claw, trying to do things I don't understand and for no reason, because the story is stupid.

You were trying to save your annoying not really girlfriend, because she was fused with the life force of the City, and if she had been killed, the City would also have died.

This is not me trying to describe the story badly, btw. It's the actual story.

Thief 1: You're an Italian plumber who doesn't do any actual plumbing, likes tripping on mushrooms and you have to save some simpering Princess from a turtle on 'roids.
Thief 2: You're a high-tech ninja who has to bump off a 'Grandmaster' who has a boner for dodgy socialism (like Bernie Sanders).
Thief 3: You have to Bop it, Shake it, Twist it, Flick it, (Vomit on it, if you've had one too many at a party).

What I meant was that I'm pretty sure your response wasn't exactly in line with the thread, as in it was a bad description but muddled enough that it was more or less off topic.

    Anyway,

Thief 1: Drink some magic plant wine and steal a talking rock for a goat man because he promised to pay for your retirement.

Thief 2: Run away from the cops until you find out that one of them is working with an eye stealing plant lady who might be willing to help you wreck a narcissistic man's vanity project. Throw a doll at fanatics to blind them.

Thief 3: An old lady dressed as a ghost girl causes havoc until you plug your pet rock into a fountain.

    Thief 4: No taffers allowed.

I think this wins the thread. I'm tempted to steal this and post it as my FB status

Sorry, I had to say "devil's widow". After all, we killed the devil in Thief 1.

I guess devil's old associate doesn't quite have the same ring to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwW8...utu.be&t=1m25s

Some of you may find it strange, but when I first played Thief - DP, I was almost a kid. My English then was worse than my English today (if it's bad now, you can imagine what it was like then). And I wasn't into the fantasy genre. So yes: to me Constantine was the devil in disguise, the Hammerites were the church, and I had to help the church so I could kill the devil.

It was obviously inspired by the medieval Catholic church and its archetypal antithesis (GReen man of the Pagans, Devil to the Christians, Pan, etc). In Thief 2, the Mechanists appear to be based on extreme capitalist Evangelicalism, but this was never officially confirmed. Karras seems like a radical Martin Luther type

Thief 2 : meet an interesting person, get them to kill themselves, save the world & steal some stuff
Thief 3 : meet an interesting person, strip them of their powers so they're practically dead, save the world, steal some stuff
