No sound in Thief Gold or dromed game mode

I currently have no sound in Thief Gold. It was fine last night, but not this morning. Nothing has changed that I can see in the interim. After some investigating I see that I don't have sound in Thief Gold at all, not even the original missions. I have two separate TG folders, one for the contest mission I'm working on, and the other just for playing. They were installed separately and at different times, and both worked fine until this morning. Now there is no sound in either. Thief 2 has sound, as do the other PC games I checked, and all other sounds on my computer work fine.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

what happens if you create a new TG install?

Did you mute the Thief gold version of the EXE in the volume control?

    Thanks for the replies, guys.

@ Voodoo: I just got home so haven't had a chance to try a new install yet, but I will shortly.

@ZB: I assume by volume control you mean the mixer that comes with the windows volume control? TG isn't showing up there at all under "Applications", nor anywhere else that I can see. Running Windows 7 64-bit, btw.

I made a fresh install of TG and patched it to ND 1.26. It has sound. The others still don't. Don't know what could have happened that would have affected both other installs but not affect the new one.

well then, time to copy one of the broken installs somewhere and start dissecting and frankensteining in parts of the working one until the culprit file is found.

Please post cam.cfg and Thief2.log. Maybe it's some sort of Windows-doing-something-weird.

Apps only show up in the mixer while they're running. Did you try it while Thief or DromEd was running? DromEd shows up in the mixer for me, Win7/64bit.

The command line points to "C:\games\20thAnniversary\Thief.exe" Anniversary\Thief.exe"

    The resource path is

    resname_base .\+C:\Games\TG\res
    install path
    install_path .\+C:\Games\TG

is that correct? Do the installations share the same resources?

Yes, I'm aware of that and should have been more clear. Neither Thief.exe nor dromed game mode show up in the mixer if I launch them from the two original install folders. They do show up from the new install folder I just made.

Ah, yes, I had made a central location for the resources to be more efficient, take up less space in each install folder. Each folder has it's own custom folders, though. Frankly, it's been so long since I did that I had forgotten.

Check the resources. There's a incident with 2 installations that share the same resources. That points to the resname path.

This might be a long shot but my Kasperski in the past asked me if I wanted to allow streaming audio on Thief. Maybe something similar in your internet security got changed to disallow audio streaming on your other two installs.

I checked and it's not that, unfortunately. But thanks for the suggestion, John.
