    spoiler:
The grey key does trigger the thieves' arrival!
If you went through the destroyed outpost earlier, you would have
seen 5 dead hammers, While you were off getting the Mech info,
they joined the army of the undead! The thieves are the group
mentioned in Willy's notes who were coming to raid the tombs.

Glad the bug is fixed and I'm thrilled to see everybody likes it!

OK, thanks John D. That makes perfect sence. Well now the thieves don't have to abandon their hideout because the tombs are clean!!! But empty.

Loved the music: all thoughout the mission the sound effects really added to the experience. VERY unnerving!!!

Now how long do we have to endure, pine away, before your next mission is released?
I told my husband that I was downloading the patch for Thief. He said, "Good! It's about time you kicked that addiction."

    ...and speaking of music....

I'm sitting here listening to Kid Rock's Only God knows Why. Man if that's not Garrett's theme song I don't know what is. Except it would have to be "Only Builder Knows Why"

I could just see all those thieves jamming together!

Those ambient sounds are loud, they make me tremble in my seat, literally. I must play with the door closed, or the whole house will hear it. I'm waiting for someone to walk by and say "playing UT again?" when I'm in the middle of a big fight.

I used some sounds from T1 in my FM, they turned out to be
a little loud (some dromed thing I havent figured out yet), but
they seemed to fit well. Not sure when I'm going to do another
FM, but I just got an expansion for Dromed called Dromed Deluxe-
made by the guys at the editing forum, its AWESOME!
New AI, textures, and plenty of other things to play with!

I forgot to mention this earlier, but another inspiration for
my FM was Tomi's Thief Gold Mission DEADLY DARKNESS.
It starts off with a really cool AI fight!

Just want to stick my two pennies worth in too. I'm generally not much of a zombie haunty fan { though I'm beginning to like them !} but this was just great John . I think the way you used the letters/scrolls to keep the story going was excellent , really kept me glued to my seat {or leaping out of it ! -particularly when I stood on a zombie which I hadn't noticed ! }Great fun !

John D. you are the perfect person to author a mission called "Paint the Town Red"!!!

Only that's not paint they're using. I even have a few puzzles to get you started.

    Haunt:
    spoiler:
The tomb of Lysander is not far from the
destroyed Hammer outpost, when you see the room where
there is a magic light above a tomb guarded by
two apparitions, go to the far end and you will
find a locked door. Pick the lock,
go down the hallway, pick the next locked door.
Go to the top of the Pyramid, grab it, then sit tight
    and watch..........

Hehe Paint the town Red is a funny name!
But, having built up a story line over the last 3 missions,
(and a piece of fan fiction)
the planned name of my next FM (that I've just begun)
    is....
    spoiler:
Island of Iron pt1: Fortress of Steel

I just finished the new version, and either killed or knocked out everything but the thieves who don't harm you anyway, to have a look around and see what every room connects to. I also triggered the haunt/hammer fight from the intended side this time, and you were right, the view is alot better from this side. I found 5220 loot, so I'm wondering where you hid the last 200. Since the mission is empty of any opposition, I may do a little searching, but I'm not that good in finding obscurely hidden loot.

Also, I managed to do 42923 damage! I'm not sure how I did it, but the sunburst I used to blow up five zombies and three apparitions might have something to do with that...

I've noticed when you blast open the Haunt chamber, sometimes
one of the gold cups gets knocked off one of the tombs and gets
stuck in the small gap between it and the wall, you might try
checking there. If that's where it is, you might not be able to get to
it. Have you checked the small bedroom by the lab? There should
be a bag of gold there lying by a speed potion.

I have the purse from that bedroom, and all the gold cups on the tombs in the golden skull area I think. I could take another look there, but isn't there any other well hidden loot somewhere? I don't want to take a look in all of the open tombs...

Hmm, I have a few more ideas where the loot might be:

    spoiler:
    1. the safe in one of the Mechanist rooms
    2. A piece of gold in the same hallway as the Precursor Mask
    3. Did you check the bottom of the well? There's some coins there
    4. Lady Demeter's tomb, if you look at the bottom
of the open grave, there should be some gold in there.

All the loot is in plain site, although because of the darkness you may have to get very close to make it frob. I think the only empty tomb that contained loot was the one John D. mentioned above. It was because of that very fact that I loved this mission so much: all the loot is findable if you just cover the entire map. There was one small tomb room that contained one of those serpant circle things that I would never have found if I hadn't carried around a lantern totting gaurd.

Hmm, I'm sure I've found everything you two have mentioned there. Must have missed a few things in plain sight no doubt

Question for A Brawl in the Tombs

Great FM even for me who hates haunt levels...What is this artifact i'm supposed to find and this scroll for Nightwalker can't find it. Is it in the big pool area? All I could find there was some coins.

    Hope someone can help me

    Hi, maloo! The artifact is
    spoiler:
a gold mask that is in a hallway quite close to the room with a big blue pyramid in the middle.

The note to Master Nightwalker is
    spoiler:
in the Keepers' area. You dive into the pool where you found the coins and check the walls. There are 4 grates and one of them will open. Swim through and follow the passageway.

    Just wanted to say...

I usually avoid 'undead' FMs. Not to say I won't PLAY an FM that happens to have some undead...but if there's a lot of them or the mission is ABOUT undead I tend to not play them, or play them very rarely.

But I really got a kick out of this one! I did find it a tad darker than I'm used to...but I just turned up the gamma...and the darkness was great for easily avoiding the undead (a BIG thumbs up for me). The friendly mobs...the ability to lure hostiles into each other...the 'holy' sword...I just loved this FM !

I made sure to play your other two before this one, and I have to say wow! You're doing a great job learning to build these! I really look forward to playing more from you.

Makes me wish I could learn to build FMs...but I have to admit my fear...no, terror...of DromEd is worse than my fear of Thief undead critters.

    So, in closing...
Thanks for a lot of fun!

It's nice to see so many folks who dont normally play undead
    missions trying mine!
IMO some of the best FM's ever made have been horror/zombie
stuff! There's nothing that makes me break out into a cold sweat
like the voice of a Haunt!

Stop that JohnD!!! I'm getting chills.

    IMHO

The #1 best thing about this mission is that you don't HAVE to kill all the undead yourself.

The #2 best thing about this mission is that when you do decide to kill one yourself, you have a handy-dandy holy water quenched sword. That should be standard issue for any mission with undead in my book. I just love the power of sneaking up behind a zombie or haunt and sending him straight to helllllllllllll mawwwwwamaaaahhhhhh!

    Ok I'm under control again.
