Ruins of Originia FM1: Mines of Margroth (Oct. 27/2002) support

96% of people will get stuck... So I thought I would start this little thread...

This is only for FM1: Mines of Margroth. It is the first mission that is part of the 207 MB Ruins of Originia Series...

You will have to find the correct post..

Hi I'm Diana and I'm a Thief addict ..... waiting for the "Hi Diana" reply.

Oh sorry not that kind of support. My mistake.
I told my husband that I was downloading the patch for Thief. He said, "Good! It's about time you kicked that addiction."

Okay, now this is mean. If you don't release it, I will! Well, not really, but hanging people by a thread = bad.

I was waiting for the zip to be broken up, and mirrored..

Here are the three links I know of so far:

    http://thiefmissions.com/m/RuinsOfOriginia
    or
    http://thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=426
    or
    http://www.ttlg.de/de/download/navig...ail.php?id=810

    Enjoy..

Things to do in the mission: Play the two "record players" in the bar for an interesting surprise...

I didn't mean to be mean... Just buying time, and increasing hype..

I feel like I'm leading lambs to the slaughter...

Note: I tried to make this a non-linear as possible, and from some of the responses already... People have no idea what they are getting into.

Some objective treasures are usable, but not in the traditional since.

Remember nothing ventured nothing gained... Why to you think I have over 50 Fire arrows availiable in the first mission? Not all arrows are to be used on AIs...

Each new AI has a weakness, and a strong advantage.

Moss arrows for example is the ONLY thing that can kill some AIs..

    Good luck...

I couldn't edit my last post again (Don't Know Why!) So I did another
CORRECTION... Its 201 not 207, unless you forgot to include the crucial 6 meg file that empowers all of the missions within

The Beta7s were 207MB... I weeded out a few useless files so it's smaller then 207...

    spoiler:
You must secure a rope arrow to get down the pit.. The wall is attachable above the pit...

    spoiler:
You are actually frobbing the door BEHIND those... Two of them (Knights) can be "busted into" after power-hitting it a few times... I have a few doors like that... Ones you have to make a lot of noise to get into... Or if you got them, use a few fire arrows... I just wack it with my swords a bunch...

Hey... I did tell you that it is difficult? The other ones are not as hard...

Most of the files on Ycatx's site can't be downloaded (the path is broken) and thief.math.edu.uh freezes when its copying it to my comp at 99%, GET A DAMN WORKING SITE WITH THE ZIP ON IT, OMFG ITS NOT THAT HARD (P.S. Did I tell you I tryed to download it 3 times from math.edu?)

Umm, pretty much everyone who has the mission currently gets it from my site, and it works just fine. I mean, don't you think I tested it before I put it online? Don't you realize that pretty much every single place you can get missions just links to my site for the download? Where did you get all of the other missions you have? I pump out upwards of 20 gigabytes per day of nothing but thief missions. Plain and simple: my site is fine; something's wrong on your end.

BTW, if you're using IE, the download will look like it freezes at the end while it copies the (huge) file to its final location.

Edit: just downloaded it again (in 13 minutes); it came through just fine. The problem is definitely on your end.

    Geez...

If you were referring to the walk-thrus, I released them... I was holding them back, but my missions are quite difficult. As requested, I released them.

What were the other problems? the AVIs?..

I download it fine from my end... It took 45 Mins with my local DSL. It took me 2.5 Hours to upload it via DSL.. (I guess its ADSL, eh?)

As for "GET A DAMN WORKING SITE WITH THE ZIP ON IT, OMFG ITS NOT THAT HARD (P.S. Did I tell you I tryed to download it 3 times from math.edu?", that wasn't a very nice or pleasent thing to say... Its not that easy for me to cough up fast space to house 200+ MB... This is what I get for an early release??? Sheesh... Besides, I didn't write the missions for you, I wrote them for my greedy little self ... I was just nice enough to share... If anything I feel sorry for my Beta-testers who download this thing more than seven times via 56K... That in itself really makes me tip my hat to THEM...

Anyway, I hope you get it soon...

Get a freakin new computer then - it's entirely your fault. Perhaps you don't have enough memory to transfer the windows temp file to the real location or whatever. Don't blame the server or anyone else. Remember, you are not a paying customer who can make demands - you are a priveledged guest who gets these FMs for FREE

DUDE!!! Have a little patience!! It doesn't really freeze it just looks that way and it takes time. Give it a minute and it will finish.

if by YcatX's site, you meant the one with links to split-up files of his fm, it's not his (well, it is, but it's not the same as his regular site nor is the functioning/malfunctioning of anything on it due to him in any way) & the files weren't uploaded & the url was not meant to be posted
it's not that hard to get a working site... but it's pretty hard to just find 200+ mb of space that will accomodate the amount of bandwidth it takes for people to download it.
(and kinda hard to upload it on a 56k modem )
grow up for crying out loud

    Yeah!

    And the illusion starts...

Funny thing about the series... THERE IS NO ORIGINIA in the GAME... hehehehe (Just comes from my "originia" stories..) I didn't think about it untill now.. That like naming the a telephone book "Purple Noises" or something abstract like that...

No matter... In the original storyline the land was called Originia..

Has anyone ever made the comparison to the French movie: City of Lost Children and Thief ?
