*twitch* help with dock land please.

    Hello,

    spoiler:

I'm playing Dock Land v1.1 on hard and have all of the
objectives complete besides finding the hidden room in the dealers
warehouse (I'm guessing the locked door in the basement) and
finding the mine entrance (I opened the gate, but yet another locked
    door exists behind it).

I have done insane things trying to open the door in the Bafford basement.

I currently have a saved game titled "LEMME IN!@#$!@#$!"
    (personal amusement)

    spoiler:

    So far, I've located 3 locked doors I can't open/pick/find keys for.

I noticed that in the basement of the hammerite warehouse there is a
gate with a switch on the other side I can't reach. (I got inside by
arrowing up outside off a dock, got out by taking a big fall).

Locked door #1: basement in Bafford's warehouse
Locked door #2: on the streets near warehouse 2 and 3
Locked door #3: door to mine
Switched Gate: basement of the hammerite warehouse that has a broken
power switch in the customs building.

Can these be opened? *twitch* *twitch*

Thank you for any help, I'll resume slamming my head against my desk now.

I don't know if I can answer all your questions, but I can definitely answer the most important one, so you can quit twitching! LOL!

    spoiler:
The hidden room is in Warehouse #2, which belongs to the Dockmaster. Enter the warehouse, go up the stairs, through the double metal doors on the south side, down the hall and into the last room on the right. It's an office that has obviously been ransacked. Go through to the next room, where there's an open secret door. Go through it, up the ramp and down the hallway into the last room, which is a storeroom of sorts. Look under the bottom shelf for a lever.

    As for the doors,
    spoiler:
I know there are some doors that just do not open in this mission. I think the one on the street is one of them. I don't recall ever getting the basement door in Bafford's Warehouse open, either.
I'm pretty sure the gate with the broken switch that you mentioned doesn't open, though not positive.

The door to the mine doesn't open. When you've completed all the other objectives, go back there and the mission should end. You don't actually get into the mine.

Thank you Nightwalker, I was able to finish the mission.

    spoiler:

If you ask me, real doors that don't open are a big no no.

    Dock Land Help

I played this mission a long time ago and thought I would give it an other go but got stuck right near the beginning...I've crossed the river past the spider and into the Hammer area but can't for the life of me remember what to do next...I found an office with secret area and a couple of locked gates a tunnel caved in but now I'm stuck. Can any one help?

    Thanks Maloo

I believe there's a key you need in there. It should be worn by a mage, I think. Then you get out the same way you got in, by walking across the girder.

If its a T2 mission, you can enter the line 'lock_cheat' (or is it 'lock cheat') in your user.cfg or dark.cfg (or ini forgot which is the real one) it will unlock all doors, thus making it able to find whats behind those doors.

    What's with Sally?

There are several clues in this mission to a "servant" named Sally. Now while I did manage to find her beside the lava under the red bridge, and I managed to get there alive (but can't get back!), I can't seem to figure out what to do with her.

Is she simply another aspect of the creativity of its builder, or can you actually do something with her?

In another place, there are hints of fire arrows beside the lava near Sally. This appearts to be simple fiction, but is it?

I never found out anything more about Sally than you did and I've never seen anything else about her on the forums anywhere, so I suspect that there's nothing else to do there.

    Lever confusion

    spoiler:
Keep finding lever control consoles on areas next to the river where there is machinery like cranes etc. Overnight I have forgotten whether or not I have been pushing those levers up or down. Which way do they go or does it matter? Also, down ladder into basement in custom house there is a burrick "right there". When getting to the bottom of the ladder, I am stuck to the ladder and can only get loose by jumping. This in turn, naturally, alerts the burrick and the yellow cloud of oblivion ends the game. Have gone back 4 different times and the burrick is always there. Does it ever leave or is there some way to get around this problem?

Forget the burrick part. Used up most of the broadhead arrows and got past major "stuckness" problems, but managed to get in there. Sometimes I think I am going to break my keyboard from banging the forward, backward, jump, crouch keys trying to get unstuck. Hope I don't have to cross that lava bridge again because I am never sure I am going to get "unstuck" at the far side.

Yes, that bridge is a bit tricky, to say the least. I can't remember anything about those levers, so they probably don't make any difference, but I'm not sure. If you get stuck, let me know and I'll check it out.

I have to hand it to all you experts who got through this without help. I am on my way to gym in total frustration after three hours of wandering around trying to open warehouses one and three and the hammerite warehouse. Help!!!!
I have finished warehouse two including
    spoiler:
    the secret room
and gotten as far as the gate on the north side of the custom house. I believe I have finished the custom house also. Everything else in the warehouse section seems to be locked and I haven't found any keys. Have waded through water in three different sections.
    Need a jump start.

There's a trick to opening those warehouse that I'm quite sure I didn't figure out on my own. I must have read it somewhere. You need to
    spoiler:
read the plaque on the front of each warehouse to open the cover over the button in the Customs house. That opens the warehouse door.

For Pete's Sake! If it wasn't for this forum, I would have given up this mission. Thought those
    spoiler:
switches in the custom house were permanently broken and probably would not have ever gone back to look at them.

Have made so many trips back and forth over the lava bridge have found out how to zoom over without so much as a hiccup. If one goes in the crouch position while running across and then jumps just at the edge of that little step, there isn't any hangup.

Wish this forum had a happy dance smiley like gameboomers.com has. It would be very appropriate for how I feel right now. Thanks again and again!

This is positively my last whine for this mission!!!!! I cannot jump on that steel girder to get back to the other warehouse. Is this not what one is supposed to do after finishing with the hammerite warehouse? Cannot find any other way out.

That's another tricky bit, joanieS. You have to stand right at the edge of the floor, then lean out over the water and mantle while you're still leaning. The ceiling is too low and you have to be out past it far enough to get up. It's not as hard as it sounds, once you know what you have to do.

Hey, thanks! Learned another trick for Thief! I have such a well-developed fear of heights that spots like that give me a cold-hand-squeezing-the-abdomen feeling whenever I have to look out over a long drop like that so I avoid doing it.

Be prepared. Am now going to Shore Leave which I think is the next episode in this series.

Wait a second. There seems to be the same series for both Thief I and Thief II but with different "scenery". Shore Leave is what I just finished as Dock Land. Is there a next segement to this series in either I or II?

Belboz remade Garrett's Revenge as Errand Boy for T2. It's a much nicer version of the FM with a lot more buildings you can get into, etc. Then he made ShoreLeave which has a few similarities to Docklands but not much. It's a fantastic mission with lots of open exploring to do. If I were you, I'd play Errand Boy, then go on to Shoreleave. Don't forget to hit "Continue" at the end of it to go on to "UpSh*tCreek", because it's a two-mission pack.

p.s. I'm terrified of heights, too, but I seem to have gotten over it for Thief. Have you played The Prometheus yet? It's the second mission in Shining Standards. There's this massive cargo ship and I had fun climbing up the mast, then walking out on the crossbeam and jumping off. LOL! In RL that would NOT be happening.

Haven't even played Shining Standard yet. Just downloaded Rowena's Curse this morning at the Blackman's suggestion. Think I will finish that before I go to Errand Boy since Errand Boy is sort of a repeat of Garrett's Revenge.
It's really interesting to have this great fear of falling when I'm sitting here in front of my computer in a chair!! Have also had difficulty with some parts of Indiana Jones games because of the heights thing. Sit here moaning out loud while I try to traverse the heights. Weird!
Will do Shining Standard after Errand Boy, and then climb the mast for the next one. I take it these are recommendations from you. Glad to get them since there are sooooo many (lucky us!) fm's to play.
