Does the campaign use such music as ambients?

I'm drawing mostly music from various movie soundtracks and some dark ambient where tension is needed.

    February update:

    • Acts I and II (missions 1-7) completed updated Beta testing for NewDark 1.24.
    • Mission 8 has now completed Alpha test.
    • Mission 9 is getting final building and decorating and should begin scripting sometime in March.
    • Mission 10 is about 1 week from being ready for Alpha test.
    • All three will enter Beta test together as Act III. I don't expect that to happen until the May timeframe, as Mission 9 has a ton of scripting to do.

Also, I will be working on a trailer movie which I hope to reveal within a month or so.

I feel a little tickled knowing that we'll be playing this in just a few months...

    Very good news indeed!
This and The Black Parade will amount to a whole year's worth of missions. And quality missions at that.

I don't think we should expect The Black Parade this year, though - but GORT's Rebellion of the Builder 2 should be released soon and it's bigger than either.

I wasn't really referring to both coming this calendar year. I agree TBP looks to be a few years away. I was more putting the amount of missions from two releases into perspective. They just happened to be the two topmost threads on the forum site at the point of me writing the post is all. Not too familiar with GORT's work, to be honest.

Anyway, glad to see things are trotting along with your project Yandros. Whatever are you going to do with yourself when this thing gets released? Bungee-jumping? Knitting?

Ah yes, right you are klatremus. Between all three campaigns, we're looking at around 35 missions, which is crazy.

After DCE? I still have a few mission ideas that have been simmering on the back burner for years. One is a mission based on Clue, with complete randomization for replay value. Another is a series of missions in which you compete in real time against an AI thief to get to a loot total first. I also would like to do some really simple, classic style missions with no heavy story, and little to no custom dialogue or fancy scripting - focused just on gameplay design and atmosphere. So yeah, plenty of stuff to do.

Are there gonna be creepy practice dummies following you around in DCE, Yandros? There are, aren't there. I just know it. .

Anyway, I'm very excited for this!

Thanks for the update Yandros. I cant wait for it.

If I missed comments sorry, but any thoughts on future Waterfront missions?

@LadyTaffer: Nope, no sentient practice dummies in this one!

@Ravenus1: Tannar and I have said we will possibly revisit WR with a new storyline, probably for Sam Marlowe, but not any time soon. A lot of the work will already be done since making all the period assets was a huge effort (mostly done by Tannar), though, so a second noir mission shouldn't take as long.

    April update:

    • Missions 8 and 10 are ready for Beta.
    • Mission 9 is about to enter Alpha test. Still some decor to do but not much. Some goals and FX are scripted but none of the conversations. I got slowed down by spring (gardening... cleaning... watching baseball...)
    • Hoping that Act III enters Beta in late May. After that it's just testing the whole campaign for any showstoppers...

I'll share a couple of new screenshots soon, and hope to work on the trailer soon as well.
