No, it wouldn't. There are plenty of campaigns that start on T1 and end on T2. Calendra, Cult of the Resurrection/Inverted Manse, the Docks, The Restored Cathedral...

If you are considering them to be 'campaigns' in the sense of a Hammerite Imperium, a CoSaS, or a T2X (which I don't), and they are interrupted right between levels to switch games, and in such a huge leap from T2-style to T3-style, then yes, you are in your perception, correct.

    In other words, I disagree.

    first off, thanks!

Maybe the fans would feel better if they understood what obstacles you are talking about and what has taken them so long to bring about a more solid release possibitlity. Even more importantly, will these obstacles be proactively extenguished BEFORE the release of the next game, or will fans be at the mercy of the company again?

I don't mean this to sound mean or ungrateful, but it seems some companies are pushing the editor out and giving utilities and tutorials (some even before the game ships) and others, well, aren't. Some think it is a gift to give to the customers, and some see it as their best hope of a success to give it to the fans. Where does the company fit into this, and where will it fit on the next release.

All that aside, I again say thanks and offer this...

The first fan to release a mission with a loading zone loses his head!!!!!
    ....
    And his editing hand!!!!!

Ah, but load zones, used properly, can be your friend! They could turn a large mission into a huge mission. They could turn a forward-driven-campaign into a hub-style-campaign.

They could support the creation of The City.

    Good news.
    Finally!
..But let's not forget DromEd and TDP and TMA even if an editor for T3 is released. We need more great FMs!

    null,

Thanks so much for the update. I'm sure things must be looking up a little if you've been given the go ahead to make this much of an announcement.

Hope burns eternal. Thanks for the fuel.

    That was...unexpected.

I type in www.ttlg.com, move mouse over 'Forums'...see something new in the Thief-TheCircle news... click on it... I start jumping for joy.

Awesome news. Of course, this means my school-work has an even smaller chance of getting done...

Dear God, how could I have missed this thread for the entire day? Thanks Ion. I have always known you're not the guys who shoot themselves in the head. Take your time, and do it as it can be done. I don't care if it won't be the best level editor in the world. Just give us one, give us the keys to the City and you'll be blessed.

One thing though. Keep us updated if you may do so. And for God'sake, work on your PR. The good old null can't be the only guy who sneaks in from time to time to whisper us something (thanks man!) unofficially. An updated and happy fanbase could be quite useful

Anyway, thank you Ion. You really made me happy with this info. I'm going to re-install Thief 3. I admit I uninstalled it because it was to sad to play it with the feeling of the End of the City.

Would be a bit strange if IONStorm is only developing an editor, but doesn't work on a new patch which isn't that much work compared to an editor.

    It seems I forgot something.

    THANK YOU!

I mean, you're working on this in your free time. <3

It reminds me of the Fallout 2 Editor and scripting tools which were also converted/documented/put together by the Fallout 2 developers in their free time, so the fans may create new levels. I love it when this happens.

    Cheers.

Yeah, absolutely agree! Don't know about you, but I will definately be working on FMs for the very first Thief even when the T3Ed is released.

Ah, but where then the nostalgia for the good old days when one could simply blame his editor troubles on TEd?

I thought they just blamed them on you, Endless.
