THIS THREAD could also be really helpful for FM Developers, thanks to clearing!
hey taffers,
I found some nice pictures about my homecountry: Germany. Look at those pics and maybe you'll get some new ideas for your next FanMissions.

saw a documentary recently on Bavaria photographed from the air, indeed a beautiful land. all those castles you guys have positively look thiefy, garrett could have a field day (night) looting around good old Deutschland.
Wow... those are really thiefy (And beautiful !) . I've a cousin who used to come here (the States) from Germany... but looking at those pictures I'm wondering why he ever left !
*Adds Bavaria to the list of places to visit One Day*
By any chance did you get a couple pictures of the interiors ? It is fascinating to see how the people used to live in there
Edit:
Quick question... what was the structure used in the bottom picture used for ? Those archways look really interesting, but I'm wondering what their function was.
The one at the very bottom looks quite similar to the front of the "Gerome Of The Woodlands" estate....And the one above that looks like "Horns Of Canzo, A Long Way Up."

hello Garrett
And what about this fantastic castle ! The Neuschwanstein !

It would be pretty hard for me to forget about the Lord Ashton series.Besides the missions being gorgeous and being easy for me to see on my old computer, I remember things visually, and I played the LAS series more than a few times. All the missions were fun, and I have a soft spot for The Secret of Sir Stefan. I just happen to know someone named Stefan, a jerk of a gunsmith who terrorized . . . er . . . lived in Germany for a few years.
Everyone who knows him hates/fears him, to boot. Pretty weird coincidence, but I loved it.

Can't help not to post some photos of Czech castles as well...
A very detailed photographic list of Czech castles - contains ground plans/maps
A few photos of Czech castles and chateaus (-x?) )(only exterior)
More photos (exterior and interior) - zamky = chateaux, hrady = castles

Stop poisoning the minds of fanmission makers into making more victorian missions. Bleh.
With pictures of castles built in an entirely different country and century you mean?Originally Posted by Thiefsie Fool
THE INTERIORS
Yes, which do tend to get built at the same time as exteriors.Originally Posted by Thiefsie Fool

*Sigh* Our minds are not being poisoned, but our souls ... our souls are being enriched ! If this be Victoriana ... Bring it on !Stop poisoning the minds of fanmission makers into making more victorian missions. Bleh. And if it is not, well, bring it on anyway
Actually, it looks like typical Medieval to me...
Those are some excellent pictures (and sites). The one with the bookcases and the fresco ceilings is particularly beautiful.
Amen, Moghedian!![]()
@FrenchThief- I LOVE the Neuschwanstein! I have 10 wallpaper pics of that old beauty! (And wish a fan mission set inside it were possible...might be a little TOO big, though)
All very inspiring. /sigh/ This is one area where American taffers are simply out of our league vs. Europeans.
I'm afraid if I posted pics of notable north Texas architecture it would be so incredibly uninspiring that everyone might wonder what's the point of people living there at all.![]()
Actually, it’s not THAT old yetOriginally Posted by Ponterbee
King Ludwig II of Bavaria started building it in 1869. Because he didn’t want to miss any modern comfort, they had even telephones there.
Have a look at http://www.neuschwanstein.de/english/index.htm, especially the picture gallery. Garrett’s fingers would start itching if he could see the servant’s room with the candlesticks!I agree, an FM like that would be cool.
I wouldn't mind robbing that place clean. Such a mission would indeed be ultra-cool (well, we probably have missions like that already, they're just not based on any particular real castle).
Thanks. The chateaux pictured here are probably from the 17th century, the others might be a bit older but with (baroque, neogothical and such) reconstructions done during the time.Originally Posted by Moghedian

I think it's the cloisters - a covered walkway surrounding an open space, such as a college quadrangle or a cathedral garth. (Garth is OE for garden.)Originally Posted by Moghedian
See the pics here and here. The Trinity College cloisters were a racetrack in the movie Chariots of Fire - our heroes had to run all the way round in the time it took for the clock to strike 12.

I visited it. There are many treasures for Garrett (especially of paintings) and perhaps some switch (i have looked for but did not find any)

I've just built some cloisters into my current project, loosely based on those at Durham Cathedral, very near where I live. The cloisters appear in the Harry Potter films.
Right I've put a link to this thread on my Inspiration page, as well as abandoned-places.com![]()
