Sad but true, Looking Glass Studios is not exactly forthcoming when it comes to editing their games. What's an enthusiastic level designer to do? Well, we can always re-create our favorite maps from Looking Glass games for other game engines!

The vast majority of the levels here are the proud creation of one overly ambitious Taffer named Zerker. All of his maps, these and his Quake & Descent levels, are on display on his homepage, which he really wants everyone to visit. If you like his levels, be sure to also email him and personally thank him, and offer suggestions! One last thing- Zerker asks that no one do anything with his levels besides play them, and give them to your friends. Please do not submit them to Unreal or level building sites, and especially please, please don't go and do something stupid like trying to sell them!

You can also grab many other maps for various games, including conversions of Ultima Underworld for Unreal Tournament at EpicClass.com.

A near-complete version of Bafford's Manor for Unreal. Tired of sneaking from guards, and want to blast your friends, or some Skaarj instead? Now's your chance! Fully-enabled for all default gaming modes! Unreal version 220 or higher required. Be sure to unzip into your base Unreal directory for eveything to go in the right places.

To play single player, either: a) double click on "bafford.unr" in your maps directory", or b) run unreal, hit tab, and type in "open bafford"

To play multiplayer, start a multiplayer game, and select it from the list, just like any other map.

Hard to believe? YES! It's true! Instead of the hacker, play a brainless thug running around blowing stuff up! This Duke Nukem' level is an almost exact replica of level 1 (the medical level) of System Shock. I've never looked at it (I've never played Duke Nukem'... HA!) so I can't tell you if it's any good or not.. (I've heard it is... :) It was donated to us by Andre "Troop" Frey.

If you wish to use it, unzip it into an empty folder, and copy the files into your Duke Nukem' directory. (version 1.3 only) Use "shocksys.bat" to play. He suggests reading shocksys.txt before you begin however

A loving recreation of the four arenas in the Pits of Carnage from Ultima Underworld 2. The arenas (for those of you unfamiliar with UW2) are Fire, Water, Air and Earth. In the Pits of Carnage, there was no hope of escape, and the common pasttime was personal combat. If you disliked a person, you would challange them to a duel their choice of the four arenas. Now, you can duel your friends in Unreal!

The Arenas of Earth and Water fully support botmatch, and the Arena of Fire mainly supports it (although they keep falling in the lava), but the Arena of Air does NOT support Botmatch. There are two reasons for this : Bot wouldn't know how to handle the repulsor circles, and UnrealED refused to compile the paths for this map. Just play with your friend!

As with Bafford's Manor, be sure to unzip into your Unreal directory with directory structure on to make sure the files go into the right place.

This is not a level conversion, but the creator & I felt that this is a great place to promote it. This is the only editor for LGS games known to exist publicly. It was created by a third party, and is thus totally unofficial and unsupported.

While I'm at it, this is a good time to tell about the program, made by the maker of tnedit, which allow you to extract the textures and sprites in not only Terra Nova, but System Shock as well! With it you can extract, edit, and restore any texture or sprite in the game. This tool is a necessity for anyone who wants to build a map conversion for either of these games. Do you want it? Do you want it now? Get it now!

Oh yes, and you will also need this tool, which helps you get around palette problems.

A nearly exact replication of the first level of the Stygian Abyss. The upper level of this volcano settlement was home to three groups. The outcasts made their home in a secluded corner, far away from the warring Green and Gray Goblins in the north of the level, here represented by peaceful Skaarj.

This map comes in three flavors: Cooperative, DeathMatch and Darkmatch. Co-op mode features the most authentic simulation of this level, with Unreal creatures in the place of all the monsters, including the peaceful settlers. Those who know and love this level are in for a special treat with the Death Match version, as you make war with your friends and enemies in a setting perfect for team carnage. However this level really shines (ironically) in the Dark Match version, where the utter darkness does a fantastic job of recreating the creepy claustrophobic atmosphere of this level.

A recreation of Beta Grove, from System Shock. The groves were simulated earth-like environments so that the inhabitents of Citadel Station can relax in a comfortable setting after a stressful day at work. Shodan, however, had other uses for this particular Grove...

The Maintenance Level in System Shock 1 is famed for being the scariest deck in the entire game - and debatably the scariest level in any game. Now you can race through these spooky halls and blast your friends to bits!
