Grand Opening!
- 10:02am EST - Saam
We have brought you the new design, the "semi" SS2 info, and now get this: Dan has brewed up a tasty recipe called "The Guide" which gives you COMPLETE info on Citadel Station- if you are *slightly* even a SS fan, then I suggest you stop reading right now and click here to check it out!! A big THANKS goes out to Dan for creating this wonderful piece of work!!
The Guide to Citadel Station
"I hope you enjoy it!" -Dan
Why write in the Wishlist?
- 9:52am EST - Dan
"Why?" you may ask, should you bother to put your ideas into the -System Shock 2 Wish List? well, listen to what Saam says..
"We here at TriOptimum want you to write in the SS2 Wishlist page not just for fun, but because the System Shock 2 developers might "possibly" be looking for some extra ideas, and they will 'try' to look at the Wishlist page for some." -Saam
Now, doesn't that motivate you? 8-D Remember, the Plot of System Shock 2 has already been formed, so I suggest posting ideas for features, rather than story ideas.

Databank Opened
- 1:08pm EST - Dan
All of the file catagorys that were once divided into "Demos and Utilitys" and "Media Files" have now been combined into one Databank under our Main Features Menu. This should allow for better orginization, and more freedom for us to add more files of different types.

New Title Banners
- 9:21pm EST - Dan
I composed several new title banners for the pages under our TriOptimum Main Features section. I'm happy with them, I hope you will be too. I've converted most of the page to gold today. Still a few little touches to go though. I'm working on several other projects to improve TriOptimum, but I'm not saying much right now. 8-D

TriOp Goes Gold!
- 8:04pm EST - Dan
Saam and I couldn't seem to leave good enough alone, and this is what we came up with. Out is the Blue and Green, TriOptimum has gone GOLD!! That new logo was designed by me of course (I'm so proud!!). The rest of the site is still blue/green, but expect that to slowly change over the next few days.
File's Section Expansion
- 10:15am EST - Dan
The Files section was getting a bit cluttered (I think so anyway), so I divided it up into three sections. System Shock Demo, where you can download the demo (of course); Shock Files, where you can pick up the themes and other miscellaneous stuff; and Hacker's Homepage, where you can download utilities and hacks.
Crusader fans should be happy to know that the newest addition to the Hacker's Homepage, a file called Ripp500.zip, includes a program that lets you convert Crusader's *.amf music files, to *.mod files. This way, you can play all of the crusader music in your favorite module player. What's a module? go to ModPlug Central to find out, and download a module player while your at it!

- 11:37am EST - Dan
Welp, after several days of intense coding (and a few days of not so intense coding) The new look for TriOptimum is finally finished! The change is, of course, to commemorate the news of System Shock 2. I hope everyone likes the new design, and rest assured, TriOptimum, and Elite Enterprises will continue to deliver to you only the best a System Shock web page can offer!!
V-mail wave added

New Title Graphic
- 10:29pm EST - Dan
Special thanks to Dan Todd for that awesome new Title graphic... hey wait a second..... That's me! It's good to take pride in your work, so I'll do it now. 8-D
The new TriOp logo wasn't drawn manually, (although it might as well have been) I made it by cutting, pasting, twisting, stretching, rotating, flipping, mirroring, splicing, and rotating the old crooked Logo. Whew!!! It isn't perfect, but it's the best I could do without starting from scratch, (That'd take too long) or pulling *all* my hair out...
Remember, Elite Enterprises can take care of any of your graphic design needs, including logo design. Honorable mention should go to Tristan Blease for giving me idea to do this!
I'd also like to thank Nick Price for supplying us with some nice animated gifs, and some other things that can be found in the files section!
Hacker's Guide to Sin
- 10:40am EST - Dan
System Shock: the hacker's guide to sin, an excellent System Shock fan page, has joined us here at TriOptimum. This exceptional piece of work, written by Joseph Morris of IT-HE Software. Contains descriptions of patches, weapons grenades, special strategies, and plenty of dark humor!! If you're looking for info on any of these things, or just looking for a good laugh, check out The Hacker's Guide to Sin .

Salt the Fries??
- 8:00pm EST - Saam
Okay, many of you have wondered just what the heck "Salt the Fries" means. Due to many requests, I just had to ask Doug at E3, so here's your answer:
Back when the LG team was working late-night on SS, one of the employees would go out to McDonalds and order like 15 or 16 Extra Value Meals, or something like that. However, the
guys at McDonalds, due to the excess baggage, had to pack all the food into their boxes which they received from the manufacturing plant (Fries, Burgers, etc..). On those boxes, the
people at Mickey D's put some quotes on there. On the French Fries boxes, they put the quote "Salt the Fries." The dudes at LG though this was funny, so they cut up all the boxes with "Salt the
Fries" on it and pasted them all over the office. Hence, the "Salt the Fries" line was born. Remember, it's not Salt the Fries, it's "Salt the Fries." (A quote from Doug at E3).
Also, just for the record, the rumor that has been spreading around for 3 years about "If you pick up a beverage can from every level and type Salt the Fries on Level 9, something cool will happen" is completely untrue. :)
System Shock Chat Room
- 1:11am EST - Dan
This site now has a Java Chat Room! Drop by and chat with your fellow System Shock Fans!!
I'm Back!!
- 12:40am EST - Saam
Hello hackers and hackerettes, boy do I have some info for you! Let's start it off with my adventures at E3:
Last Thursday, the first day of E3, me and my friend Josh from Cyrellis were checking out the booths at E3
looking for one particular booth: the LookingGlass booth. Why? So we can see our "must-see" game, Thief: The Dark Project! Also, I have been waiting for 3.5 years
to finally see my idol and god, the project leader/lead programmer of System Shock, Doug Church. After hours of searching, we finally found the LG booth on the very
edge of Eidos' booth. My eyes went to Doug Church, who was talking to some other media people at that moment. LG's PR guy (who was very nice, btw)
asked me if I needed any help, and I simply said "Nope- I'm looking for Doug, and I think I've finally found him." I went up to Doug and said "Doug! It's me, Saam, the guy who always talk to you
on ICQ and email." He said hello, nice to meet ya, and all that good stuff. Let me tell you, Doug is probably one of the nicest and most outgoing guys I have ever met. He demonstrated Thief for us,
which I must say was perhaps THE game of E3. The 3D renderer was simply amazing, probably as good as the Quake2 based games and the Unreals of our time. However, Dark (I like to call it that) was more than
a FPS (first-person shooter); the way you play the game is absolutely different than any other game I've ever played. Instead of killing left and right, you have to think more, and act more like a (what else?) Thief!
After an hour of playing Dark (which was in Alpha state), I talked to Doug a bit more about Dark and more importantly, Shock/System Shock 2. I told him how I knew that EA and LG were talking about publishing rights and other good stuff,
but I really asked him "Will it be the official sequel?" He said "I'm not sure, it's up to EA." I later learn that he already knew the answer, as the next morning, EA issues a press release stating the development of System Shock 2 and other
LG games. Okay, enough of the mumbo-jumbo; let's get to the good stuff. :)
System Shock 2, as you've probably guessed by now, is the "official" thing, baby! It has already been in development for quite some time now (about 5-6 months?), and it will of course use the Dark engine. There will be LG employees working on SS2, but
a company by the name of Irrational Games will be the core developers. Why? Because the head of Irrational was one of the main programmers for System Shock, Rob "Xemu" Fermier. I didn't get a chance to see him at E3 (Doug told me he was there), so I'll
try to contact him very shortly. Apparently, SS2 will be very true to the original, promising the same elements which made us gamers go crazy (for good, of course). Having seen the power of the Dark engine, I am pleased to announce that this should be THE game of the
decade! As one LG staffer said, "The dead bodies and coke cans have already been implemented, so you should know by now what to expect..." Doug, unfortunately, won't be working much on SS2 for the moment since he's really leading the "crunch time" for Dark, but he
should start doing some programming for it in the coming months. Also, I should be heading up to Massechusetts (LG headquarters) in a few weeks (invitation from Doug), so if I do indeed head up there, you can be sure I'll get a gander at a much-improved Dark, as well
as my new all-time fav, System Shock 2. :)
On another note, doesn't the new redesign look rad? I sure think so. A big cheers goes out to my pal Dan for keeping the site warm and cozy while I was away at E3. What should I reward him with, a Laser Rapier? :) Expect more updates from me and Dan, as well as more
design/content changes. Also, Dan and I have a small surprise for you, which we won't tell just yet, but you'll be very excited, trust me. :) Until then, keep re-playing System Shock, and make your mouth water for SS2, as it should be THE blast we all need!
New SS2 Story
- 10:00am EST - Dan
A new story has mysteriously appeared in the SS Fan Storys section. It is the longest one so far, and also the firts to use totaly new characters and settings. I hope everyone enjoys reading it, if you have enough time.
Main menu complete?
- 5:18pm EST - Dan
Ok, how does everyone like the new look? Great eh? I don't plan to do any more major changes, but who knows what the future holds... Stay tuned for System Shock 2 news from E3!!
New Main Interface
- 12:10pm EST - Dan
It should be obvious that the main front page has a new interface. It's just a first attempt, there may be more changes still so come, but this is a start. Isn't is amazing how a few simple tweaks and updates can turn into a total renovation! Expect more changes where that came from!
New Story Added
- 12:14am EST - Dan
Tristan Blease has submitted a cool new System Shock 2 story. Be sure to take a look in the Fan Story Section.
